Political Partisanship

Just curious. As I'm a formal Federal inmate and have not petitioned the Federal Courts to get my rights as an American citizen reinstated I'm not legally allowed to vote.  And as I'm not really inclined to take up the fight to change my status anytime soon I really am just an outside casual observer to the political process.  I  don't really lean one way or the other and am mainly just interested in my own personal and business affairs. I'm curious though about this whole political divide in the United States.  I'm not trying to offend anyone with what I'm posting here, I'm just curious.  It would seem to be that in my lifetime every time, this country elects a Republican president the United States is affected so negatively that by the end of the 8 years that the Republican Administration has been in power the United States is nearly on the edge of political, social, and economic collapse. It's pretty obvious to a casual observer like myself that every time a Democrat is elected into the White House the Administration has to hit the ground running just to save the entire nation. The biggest problem seems to be the economy. Unemployment is the number one problem. Followed by the Stock Market, failing banks, farms, foreign trade, manufacturing, etc., etc..  It seems to me, once again just a casual observer, tat the first four years of any Democrat Admin. must exert extreme resources and time just to fix all the problems left by the previous Republican Administration. Then that same Administration spends its next four years building up the country to a position of what I would perceive as American greatness and world leadership. This is always followed by Americans electing a Republican President who will spend the next 8 years basically running the United States into the ground. Overspending, starting wars, ruining the economy, and destroying America's leadership position on the world stage.

With this last Republican Administration, it was obvious that Trump was in no way competent enough to lead your country. The man is a used car salesman.  Being a professional criminal myself, I can easily recognize a fellow professional. However, Trump and his family are in no way at the same level as I and many of the criminals I have dealt with over the years are. The Trumps are more like mid-level thugs. Not at all that sophisticated and pretty obvious as to what they are. Basically, morons who have gained their position due to nepotism.  How is it that there are so many millions of good, God-fearing, hard-working, and America-loving Americans who as I can see are the ones who are most adversely affected by the actions of the Republican party, are the ones who are the only reason that Republicans are still a viable political p[arty within the United States? It's the middle and lower-income classes that the ones who get screwed by Republican policies the most, and yet they are the ones who provide the votes that keep this criminal enterprise in business.

Just imagine a period of let's say 24 years. A time that is equal to an average of 3 administrations. If during that time it was a Democrat Admin, followed by a Democrat Admin, followed by a Democrat Admin. America would no doubt be generations ahead of the rest of the world. Economically, Socially, and Technologically in nearly every aspect of modern humanity America would lead the world. Of course, there would probably be fewer mega-Billionaires but no doubt many more billionaires, many, many, many more millionaires for sure. And Americans as a whole would be safer, better educated, longer living, and happier.

It doesn't make sense to me.

And as America keeps playing its idiotic game of one step forwards and two steps back, the rest of the world is catching up, and in some cases starting to pass the United States.

If you guys give it back to Republicans in 2024, the United States is going to end up being more on the level of the U.K., or Japan, and Germany. Still a first-world nation, but not the Greatest Nation.

Like I've said, it's not something that I can have much say in. And in all honesty guys like me will always live a very comfortable life even if the entire country goes to shit.

I guess I'm curious as to why there are so many good, law-abiding, and patriotic American citizens who in any other situation would in no way aid a criminal, provide the necessary support to enable the Republican party to continue their rape of the United States?

Anyone?

...and America-loving Americans who are most adversely affected by the actions of the Republican party, yet they are the ones who are the only reason that Republicans are still a viable political party within the United States.  The middle and  lower-income classes who get screwed by Republican policies the most are the ones who provide the votes that keep the Republican Party alive.

The reason is simple: The Republican Party panders to people with fear, guns and religion.   Even though Obama received a lot of criticism, he was right in 2008 when he said this:
"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them... They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Obama won Pennsylvania in 2008 anyway (and again in 2012) but in 2016, those same gun toters and Bible-clingers i.e.,
white working-class, rural, disenchanted and marginalized voters helped Trump win the election.

Those bitter clinging Republican suckers were against Obamacare even though they were the ones who needed it the most.  I shake my head at how they will vote against their own self-interest because their leaders keep telling them that the "Dems are coming for your guns."  Or that their religion is more important than people's human and civil rights.

I was recently reviewing some WWII history, in particular, the Pacific Theater. The US gained territory in the Pacific by achieving superiority over the Japanese in the air, on the sea (tremendous naval battles that wiped out the Japanese navy), and on land. The US Armed Forces won hard fought battles for Saipan, Guam, Okinawa, etc.. Even when the Japanese forces were defeated and fighting had ended, civilian island natives had been brainwashed by Japanese propaganda that the Americans were going to kill them and they would not come out to receive aid (food, water, medical attention). Many islanders committed suicide rather than "surrender" to the Americans. Islanders who began working with the Americans and knew that the Japanese propaganda was all lies would broadcast pleas over loudspeakers asking their friends and neighbors to come out and not believe the Japanese lies but it didn't always work.
.
Food, water, medical assistance, and other assistance ... or suicide? The brainwashed will deliberately harm themselves rather than seek the truth.

You paint the end result of 24 years of Dem rule as some sort of neoliberal Utopia. I fear the actual outcome would be outright socialism, stifling repression of any political dissent, and profound corruption.

It seems that the republican message has hit home.
And by the way, your fears should be put to rest. "outright socialism, stifling repression of any political dissent, and profound corruption", won't and can't happen. That's kinda extreme

It’s not an extreme prediction at all. The OP is asking us to imagine Biden winning in 2024, with 3 more elections going Blue in the following 18 years.

No party in the world steps on its own, very popular policies and messages than US Democrats. If we just concentrated on pocket book issues like jobs, healthcare, etc we would win those 24 years in a row. Too many times people on our far left hijack the message. They come up with stupid sayings like "defund the police" and "believe all women" and scare the shit out of too many moderates and independents.
Most of those people mean well but they don't understand how they appear to the middle, which decides elections in this country. Our branding, our marketing and our word choice are horrifically bad at times.
Need an example? The Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare. What was it? What was in it? Was it good? No one knew. Now, how about if they called it "Medicare for All"? People LOVE Medicare. You would have had tens of millions of elderly explain it to the younger generations and they would have acted as salespeople but NOOOOOOOO....we have to come up with hundreds and hundreds of pages of legislation written in legalese that my politicians admitted to every mic pushed in their face that they didn't even bother to read it!
See the point? It's not the policies that are the issue. The Democratic policies poll incredibly well. It's the terrible sales job we do to the American people while the Republicans run on inane yet simplistic bumper sticker slogans that sound great but any in depth analysis of them and they fall apart. Think "Drill Baby Drill." and "Where woke goes to die." Sigh.

Respectfully, Robert, you are no Democrat.  You constantly disrespect our President by calling him "joe."  You don't criticize Republicans like you do Democrats.  Your use of the word "we" to include yourself when referring to Democrats reminds me of the old joke about the Lone Ranger and Tonto:
