I don't want to go too far off topic, but "Medicare for All" or a similar health care system would save ~25% of the $5 TRILLION spent on health care that represents what is taken as profit by the private insurance companies. That $1 trillion in savings could then be spent on improving and expanding health care or be directed to other things like infrastructure, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, and so on. Or, it could be used to reduce taxes by $1 Trillion.

Back onto the topic of fire prevention and emergency services: Construction of Trump Tower in NYC began in 1979. It is currently wildly below current electrical, plumbing, fire, and other codes. If Trump tried to sell Trump Tower, the buyers would have to pay for upgrades that would cost tens or even 100s of millions of dollars. Mar-a-Lago and other Trump properties are probably also below current codes. I will predict (1) Trump will have Congress kill the Affordable Care Act (2) Trump will have Congress pass a budget item to give property owners, including himself, a windfall of Fed (citizen / taxpayer) money to upgrade their properties to the latest codes.

You ignore that fact that a century ago when there was no forest management in place to control the amount of debt vegetation in California of the kind that fuel wildfires and an average of 4,000,000 acres burned annually. By 40 years ago, through the efforts of Republicans in Sacramento, that number was down to 250,000 acres annually. During the last 40 years, as California transitioned to one-party rule by the Democrats, the annual acreage that is burning has increased to the point that we are now back to 4,000,000 acres a year, coincidentally the same amount burned a century ago when politicians were doing NOTHING about the dried brush accumulating across state. We already know from a century ago what happens when they do NOTHING. You would think the Democrats would have reasonably foreseen that when they do NOTHING again, that is what we will return to. They are idiots.

Approaches to forest management have evolved and changed over the decades. At one time and place, suppressing fires was thought to be best practice. At another time and place, there were even controlled burns to remove some cover and make way for the regrowth of grasses, then trees, then more trees, (animal habitats), etc..

AS HAS BEEN POINTED OUT SEVERAL TIMES IN RECENT DAYS, the majority of CA forest is owned and managed by the Federal gov. The next largest percentage of forest is privately owned (I presume by the paper, pulp, and lumber industries). Something like 3% of the CA forests are subject to management and control by the STATE gov.
