I thought one implied the other, so its a given the atheistic terrorist was insane.

All the reports I've read say Jared Loughner, the famous Arizona Safeway Massacre shooter, is an atheist.    That pretty much explains everything.  The Glock model 19 is the preferred weapon of the atheist terrorist.

of the crime to something other than the random choices of an insane person is stupid.

shows you to be an moron of staggering proportions.  Why don't you hook up with your leftie board equivalent Benlanger, contract a virulent STD from her & the both of you can take a much needed hiatus in an iron lung built for 2.

The mind boggles at the stupidity encountered here.

From what I've read of the guy, his English grammar skills are only slightly better than lioor's. That pretty much explains everything. Of course, I have a bias against illiterates.

The idea that because Loughner held some particular position or belief (for example, he was someone who believed the Bush administration knew in advance about the 9-11 attacks), does not mean that others who hold those beliefs are violent; or that holding those beliefs gives rise to violence.

Loughner was an atheist, but had both Mein Kampf (national SOCIALISM) and the Communist Manifesto (international SOCIALISM) on his bookshelf. But he had also been surfing the website of an iffy group run by Jared Taylor. Etc etc etc.

NONE of these was responsible for the fact he was a simple illiterate nutcase.

BTW, I don't mind atheism. What I DO mind is proselyte atheist extremists who seek to deny the free exercise of religion for others or belittle those who do have faith. That's just religious bigotry, pure and simple; and is in no way morally superior to racial bigotry. You wanna be an atheist? Cool. Just don't belittle those who disagree.

He isn't a 'terrorist' under the current meanings. He isn't trying to subvert anything; he isn't a revolutionary (hell, he's too far gone to think that logically). He hates and distrusts gov't; that doesn't make him a terrorist.

Several on here hate and distrust the gov't too; it doesn't make them terrorists.

Killing makes him a murderer, however. Whether insane or sane, whether atheist or religious, he murdered six people in front of witnesses, pure and simple. Motive makes no difference. He killed. In a cold and premeditated way, he MURDERED. Not terrorized, MURDERED.

Big difference.

word "terrorist" goes way beyond this case and illustrates the tragedy of the unlawful detainment of so many "terrorists" in Gitmo without adequate legal standards as what constitutes a terrorist.

We see the consequences of this failure in the 30 or so  habeas corpus cases where Bush era "terrorists" were released by the court bc there wass no evidence, other that than obtained by torture, to show they could be lawfully imprisoned.
