I'm not responding really to the article, but to the concept

Most are unaware of the extraordinary rendition program started under Clinton, kicked into high gear by Bush II, and continued under Obama.

Start digging a bit, and any normal person will see that this program contradicts every principle for which this country was founded. It is the sort of thing expected of fascist dictators -- where people can literally be and ARE "disappeared."

You are right to raise an alarm.

Today it is an Islamic woman, and perhaps we don't care because we aren't Muslims.
Tomorrow it will be someone defined in the MIAC report as a likely domestic terrorist. But we won't care because we don't meet that profile.
But day after tomorrow it will be US.

ANY power given to government will ultimately be used against its own citizens. You can take that to the bank.

It scores a zero on the credibility meter with me.

It's not just the Moosies of the world that are blind to this, the number of people who bought into the idea that Obama was somehow different is mind boggling.

As broken as our two party system seems to be, the two sides mostlys cancelling each other out has seemed to work pretty well for the most part. The scariest times are when either party has any real degree of control, and as such is able to push their agenda through. Most of the time we have gridlock, and gridlock is the best most of us can hope for.

I am sure her grief was/is genuine, but she doesn't have anymore cerebral capacity than does TrannyBoy. She is simply a puppet for the PTB from the left, and if you have ever heard her speak, she really is an incredibly stupid woman.

and you are smart enough to no beleive a single word that you have written, do the words "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" sound familiar? You are simply using Cindy Sheehan the same way as the DNC, you would cite Benlanger as a credible source if she happened to agree with you.

Cmon Mein, you are not a stupid man, don't insult my intelligence.

does more to support my POV than yours.

She was a weapon to use against Bush, once Bush was defeated and Obama now owns the war(s) she has faded into relative obscurity.

I don't pretend that both sides don't pratice the same type of politics, obviously they do. It's just that I don't take much of anything that Cindy Sheehan says seriously, she is hardly objective and I highly doubt that much if any fact checking was done oh her part. AAR She is hardly a writer I would take at face value, hence "my congestion"

I'd have a better ability believing this story if there were some undeniable facts presented.  Now I don't doubt the liklihood that things like this happen, but I'm not convinced this is one of them.  Maybe if the article wasn't written in such a biased way I would give it more credence.  Yes, Powell and others argued that WMD did exist etc... ad nosia... and so now the thrust of most opposition to the US Iraq scenario are quick to call us idiots etc... But they fail to give equal time to the fact, as presented by nearly every senior Iraq military leader under Saddam, that Saddam did in deed make every attempt to create the belief that he had WMD.  So, we have a country deliberately creating the trail of evidence (albeit false evidence) for the sole purpose of convincing the world they had WMD... Well guess what, it worked, and the rest is history.

Just type "extraordinary rendition" into a search engine and start digging.

I did a lot of research on the topic as it fills a chapter in an upcoming book that I'm co-writing with a friend.

I can't speak to the specific case, but I can speak to the general structure, and the general structure of extraordinary rendition is very scary and contradicts the underlying principles of the U.S.

One thing people should keep in mind when giving government power is that while they might have some degree of faith in the specific person wielding it at the time; they have no idea who will be wielding it 20 years from now. No government, once given power, ever gives it up again voluntarily.

Obama, for example, railed against extraordinary rendition as a candidate. Now that he is president? Silence.
