The word only means "miserly" or "cheap." There is no, repeat, no racial connotation to it. It is not derived in any way from the dreaded "N Word." I guess some people around here (including the so-called Admins) can't speak plain English. Pathetic.

"Separate but equal" is simply justification for bigotry and racism. "different but equal" is quite a different story.
You can't legislate thousands of years of human behavior, nor can we rewrite the past to make every thing look rosy, but we can level the playing field, which by and large has already been done, and then try to get on with things without crying foul everytime someone is "insensitive".

Propaganda used to be contained by the efficiencies of media. Similiar to the virulence of a pathogen. For instance Ebola is horrendous, but it has an extremely short half life therefore it contains it's area of effect. (Another example, Laffy is an irritant, but he has the intellectual efficacy of a gnat.)

What I meant about the playing field being level is that blacks, jews, and even asians have a relatively level playing field in which to strive for and attain success, We can never end racism and bigotry at the individual level, but we have mainly ended it at the institutional level. Some might even say we have tilted it in favor of minorities.

I believe in social safety nets, but they should be efficiently administered, proactive in the sense that they develop people and get them back into a productive fold, all the while they must remain compassionate...the truly handicapped ought to be taken care of though. The economic deck is most certainly stacked in the favor of those at the top, and while I enjoy excellent compensation and security myself, I do not believe the current paradigm is what the founders wanted. It's a diabolical cycle fueled by greed. Profit does not = progress or success. We may be hitting a wall and I believe so because when the foundations of once progress generating mechanisms are being cannabalized for a buck...you're in trouble. We need to transcend into a true efficiency driven system if we are to preserve our society as the structure upon which the fruits of everyones labor are at least the reasonable expectation of a comfortable modicum of existence. That ain't socialism either.
I tote guns, and I know how to use them responsibly. As a VFW I've seen a lot of motherfuckers who shouldn't have them... I believe a pragmatic solution can be had there as well without curbing the natural rights by which the power of the people is balanced versus the government....etc..

The filed has definitely leveled out quite a bit in terms of race but now what is going on is ideological bigotry, and both sides (left/right) have similiar requirements of conformity which can be labeled as their version PC.
I call it "Hillbilly PC," and "Hipster PC." Both types make me want to vomit.

There's a big difference between not tolerating bigotry in all its forms and guises versus persecuting controversial dialog due to pseudo-popular sensitivities.

I saw a very funny episode of "Last Man Standing," where a white couple got together with a black couple, who had just moved into the area. The two men verbalized their racial prejudices and stereotypes overtly, and yet ended up being quite copacetic with each other, while the white wife did her best to be PC. And yet, her racial stereotypes and prejudices kept slipping out, and the other couple found them to be much more offensive. That's been pretty much my experience with those trying too hard to be PC.
My experience in that regard has been the same as yours. those who are the most PC, deep down have the biggest problems with race relations.
Everybody knows when you are walking on eggshells and really aren't comfortable around certain people. Daffy is that way about minorities, he knows so little about them that he is offensive without even trying.
