So I'll clarify what is screamingly obvious to everyone else. The Trump U. flap was a big deal during the election unless you were in Russia. It led to the Curiel embarrassment, an even bigger deal. So the megabucks settlement of the law suit so Trump wouldn't have to testify, when he claims he "never settles," is a fairly big deal to anyone with a pulse. Do you breath only through your mouth?
He settled because he had no choice and I bet he was eating his liver when he agreed to it. The "right thing" would have been to not defraud those people to begin with.
I didn't say he did it for morality reasons. Imo, he did it for practical and political purposes, but in this case, they happen to parallel the morality of the situation, so that is an added bonus to the settlement.

"Today's $25 million settlement agreement is a stunning reversal by Donald Trump and a major victory for the over 6,000 victims of his fraudulent university," Schneiderman said in a statement. "I am pleased that under the terms of this settlement, every victim will receive restitution and that Donald Trump will pay up to $1 million in penalties to the State of New York for violating state education laws. The victims of Trump University have waited years for today's result and I am pleased that their patience — and persistence — will be rewarded by this $25 million settlement."
The settlement of $25 million is really a lot of money. In effect, it was an offer the plaintiffs couldn't refuse. They probably got more than 50 cents on the dollar, quite a lot for class action lawsuits. Trump was scared shitless to have this hanging over his head like the sword of Damocles.
But Trump can look on the bright side. He said if he won the case, he'd reopen Trump U. Since he did not admit liability, he can open the U again...and this time call it PRESIDENT Trump U.
But it was his fake/tough guy bravado that he will Never Settle, and then he settles. His base loved it, they were salivating and then his pussed out and settles.Makes me wonder what's next besides that wall. Maybe keeping the ACA...lol
