Why would anyone expect a Congressman to show any common sense?  Remember the one from Florida who was cruising male pages?  The only thing I'm wondering is why are most of the Congressmen who get caught Republicans?  I'm pretty sure it's not because the Dems are smarter (LOL).  Maybe it's because Democrats don't have sex.  Oops!  Then what about Barney Frank?

that is being created, which would keep him from doing his job. Bullshit! He's stepping down because he's been humiliated and he's a coward. IMHO he should continue on doing his job until he is either not re-elected, impeached, or the disruption from his wife's fury is severe enough to truly be a distraction keeping him from doing his job.

I understand what you're saying but try to imagine the microscope he'd be under; pursued daily by cameras asking all the obvious questions. Eventually, he would have cracked.  At least he spared his constituents days of weasely excuses and copped to it right away.  Now, everyone can move on.
