Did anyone see RFK jr. testimony when he stated the chronic disease in people now is at 74%.... when just 70 years ago it was 10%.....

That should scare the shit out of everyone.... and also proves his or a point.   The CDC and other government health agencies are failing citizens.  How can that they allow chemicals and things be put in our foods but not in other products/foods sold to other countries?   Is this why we are "unhealthier"?   Is this why a universal healthcare system would FAIL or go bankrupt in the USA?   Honestly these are things that need to be looked at and are scary.   It plays into the lifestyle choices between US and other countries and what not.

Like him or hate him.  That he has a valid point and produced a scary stat.

A huge amount of the studies Kennedy relied on to make that statement came from agencies of HHS. Yep, the same agencies that DOGE has gutted and Kennedy himself has said lied to the American people.

What scares the shit out of me is that RJK Jr is completely unqualified to lead HSS. He is a radical anti-science, conspiracy theorist. During the hearing he repeatedly lied and was a combative, incompetent  bully.

I'm afraid that your assessment on the health of the country is myopic and ill-conceived. Consider that overall life expectancy in the USA has improved over tyou'd ast 70 or so years by about 10 years. Yes we have more "chronic disease" and more diagnoses  because of tremendous advancements in medical knowledge, medical specialization,  surgical advances, pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, government health agencies, and diagnostic tools such as automated lab analysis, comprehensive blood tests, imaging, and genetic testing. Because of scientific advances clinicians are able to make more, and more precise, diagnoses.  But that doesn't mean we are sicker now. In fact we are healthier when a medical condition is diagnosed and treated with safe, effective medications or procedures.

But that doesn't mean we can't get healthier.  We can and we must. Yes, Americans are too obese, too sedentary, and consume too much unhealthy food. Yes, Big Food produces many unhealthy foods. Yes, Big Food lobbying aims to keep the status quo.  We need more regulations on Big Food and their lobbyists and a nationwide effort to eat better and exercise more.

No doubt medical advancements are why we live longer.  Be it procedures, medicines, testing, devices, etc.   NO doubt about it.  It is also the elephant in the room on why our "social security" is running out and why the USA can't fund/afford universal health care....ie: population size.

Certain types of conditions years ago were "death" sentences and now they are not.

But the fact still remains that he isn't wrong in his assessment of chronic disorders that people are living with.   We all know that "big pharma" would rather not "cure" anything because the profit isn't there.  CEO's have stated this.

Why are people fighting RFK jr on getting certain things out of our foods?  Is it because Trump appointed him?   I also find it funny that RFK jr. fired or asked people to step down and Dem's are going nuts.  Yet the same Dem's opposed those people getting nominated only months ago.

Now to what nicky stated... correct he is quoting studies from agencies that have had funding cut and what not.  He is quoting studies of agencies he doesn't agree with.   But does that make those studies wrong?

You raised 3 or 4 different issue. I'll take them separately and one at a time as my schedule allows.

Regarding chronic disease: I don't know if the numbers he quoted are correct or not because he is not a credible witness.  However, I will concede patients have more diagnoses now than 70 years ago. That may seem inconcruent with a population with a longer life span, but it isn't. People are healthier now because these medical conditions have been diagnosed and treated.  Some medical conditions are acute and resolve, but many others are chronic. Chronic conditions often need ongoing management over a patient's entire life.  Big Pharma may be overcharging patients in the US (and that's where I take umbrage with them), but is not withholding developing a drug that would be curative.  The drugs that they develop are the best that our medical science is able to create. If Pharma could cure every disease they would.

Big Poopy is all concerned about 1000 HHS emps demand RFK's resignation.  HHS has 80,000 employees and all they could muster was a 1000 signatures????LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

Another dipshit says RFK isn't credible nor qualified to run HHS but in the last administration, the assistant HHS Secretary was a dude that believed he was a woman and that young teens should be given hormone treatment.  Europe was in talks years ago and finally decided to an outright BAN of these same drugs as they were deemed dangerous and caused permanent and irreversible damage to the patients (VICTIMS).  If it weren't for a 2013 reclassification of the definition of gender dysphoria, this dude would have been clinically diagnosed with a certified serious medical condition and rightly so.

Medical advancements with corresponding longer life expectancy occur gradually over decades. Funding for Social Security retirement benefits can likewise get augmented over time. The best time to have started doing that was 20 years ago. The second best time is today. Unfortunately, republicans continue to block efforts to provide additional funding to SSA and have done so for decades.

A single payer medical insurance system (Medicare for all) works well in many countries and could work here if it wasn't for republicans and the Big insurance lobby.  Medicare, unlike private insurers, doesn't have a profit motive, need to pay dividends to shareholders, fund stock buy back plans, and pay millions to corporate executives. Public insurance like Medicare provides more coverage for less money. If you feel sorry for the "poor" private insurers don't.  There's even a larger market for them to write supplemental policies to pick up the 20% that Medicare doesn't cover.

Your arguments are ludicrous.  Getting any number of HHS employees to speak out is remarkable  considering this administration's practice of revenge.  Kennedy is a vaccine denier and conspiracy theorist not a physician or scientist. He is deeply unqualified to run HHS. Even his family, who knows him best, thinks he's dangerous to the health of the country.

I agree with jazz. I would add ...
.
I haven't seen a detailed list or description of the 1000 signatories but I suspect that is mostly or entirely scientific staff, perhaps even just senior or PhD level (not bachelor of science technicians) staff, those who are highly qualified to make scientific judgements based on years of specialized education and research experience. I suspect that the letter might have been circulated globally but maybe it was only "passed around" at some major centers (NIH - Bethesda; HHS - Atlanta).
.
The 80,000 GLOBAL HHS employees are distributed across many job categories. Here is one breakdown of the categories but I haven't found employee numbers in each category.
Occupational Category - All
Professional & Administrative
Professional  --- ***the 1000 are probably in this subset***
  Administrative
Technical (these are probably instrument operators, tech support staff, etc.)
(Technical might include bottle washers and other research support staff - HS or BS level ... but see below)
Clerical
Other White Collar
Blue Collar (this might be bottle washers and other research support staff - HS or BS level)
Unspecified

EDIT: I just found this

How Deeply Trump Has Cut Federal Health Agencies [Aug 21, 2025]
... but it is more about category specific staffing cuts and not the total number distribution (to use as an indicator of "1000 out of 80,000" versus "1000 out of 10,000").

Nobody is fighting Kennedy with respect to unhealthy, highly processed foods except the Big Food industry. Kennedy is being opposed because he is anti-vax, anti-science, anti-expert, pro conspiracy theories and if anyone in the CDC, NIH, etc opposes his radial views they are fired or they resign.

That is all the indication that you need to realize thus country is headed in the wrong direction health wise…

How many of you lefties still have a 34 inch (or under) waist?  I’m 5.10 175lbs and the afore mentioned 34 inch waist. I’ve known for years the American food supply was fucked and I limit my intake of food. Also if I can’t pronounce and know what all the ingredients are I don’t eat it.

RFKj is threatening two major industries bent on profit over health. He was willing to side with Trump yo fix this.

If your TDS afflicts you so badly you can’t see that? I’m going to bet when you get out of the shower you can’t see your own dick without a mirror.

What are you talking about? Liberals are in agreement that too many Americans, including trump, are overweight and eat unhealthy foods. Libs are all for HHS efforts to combat obesity and our unhealthy food supply.    States with the most obesity are all red states, so what are the republican leaders in those states doing? I suspect absolutely nothing. And by the way I am taller and leaner than you.
