A New Jersey Gannett newspaper ran a photo caption of a nurse with a Covid injection titled "fucking hot nurse, a total JAP..." This is a true tri-fecta, combining racism, misogyny and foul language, all wrapped up in unbelievable stupidity. Congratulations!
Oh, and the writer is Hispanic so he's a "brown person!"
Too hilarious.

I didn't see anything in the article that mentioned Asians.

So let's get this straight, some fucking beaner makes a statement that uses a term that at the most is mildly offensive to a handful of Jews and a whole bunch of the woke crowd who are offended by EVERYTHING, yet somehow the paper feels a need to apologize to Asians. I mean honestly, WTF!!!???

Woke liberals and the fear of cancel culture, that’s why.

A real journalist would have explained to the audience what JAP meant, eliminating the need to apologize to anyone who thought the term was directed at Asians.

When I click on the link, I get a blurry picture of a masked face with eyes and forehead visible (and her hand holding the vial). What identifies the vaccinator as Jewish or JAP?  (At a CVS I visit, one of the vaccinators is a beautiful Asian girl based on her eyes, beautiful long, silky, black hair and thin shapeliness. I don't know her name and I don't know if her ancestry is Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or something else.)
.
I think the guy put in a placeholder caption ("fucking" in a final caption?) but forgot to replace it.

I was using it as short for Japanese.  An official Scrabble dictionary was used, & it deemed it slang, so not valid.

And before this board blows up with racism comments, this was as a teen in the 1970's, with no real understanding of the concept of racism at that age.  I also frequently watched "All In The Family".

The "kid" in Atlanta who murdered all those people is being accused of being a racist of the worst time, yet you claim ignorance of racism at a not much younger age.

What a fucking hypocrite you are. I was a teen in the 70's too. I was routinely turned away from getting a job from racists who didn't even look to see if anyone was watching when they would tell me "We don't hire Japs here" right to my fucking face. But now all these years later, white people like you think they have the right to lecture me about racism. PLEASE Go Fuck Yourself you hypocritical putz. "Jap" was never just "short for Japanese" any more than nigger was just an easier way of saying African American.

There are Japanese Jews. Years ago, there was a supper club in Manhattan called Shalom Japan. I seem to recall comedians emceed by the owner.  The owner was 100% Japanese but also 100% Americanized and 100% Jewish who kept kosher.  The club was certified kosher. We had some visitors from out of town who kept Kosher and had to host them at kosher places only during their stay. Kosher sushi tastes a lot like regular sushi.
.
FOUND IT!  http://sohomemory.org/index.php/shalom-japan-0
"... Shalom Japan, a kosher restaurant at 22 Wooster Street, was owned and operated by Miriam Mizakura, a Japanese Jew who sang, danced, did impressions, and told Jewish jokes. ..."
.
(New Shalom Japan http://shalomjapannyc.com/ is NOT the same as the former Manhattan supper club.)

Jap is not an abbreviation for Japanese, it's meant as a slur, not as an abbreviation. If my other post ever clears random moderation you'll see my real thoughts on the subject.

as short for Japanese.  I know it also means Jewish American Princess, but that's not the context he used, so I replied according to his statement.  Have you ever played Scrabble?  I stand by my answer in the context of Scrabble rules. You can't just Jap. for Japanese, any more than you can use US or UK or Fr. as abbreviations for other countries, BECAUSE THEY ARE PROPER NOUNS.  If you had read the post I was responding to, you would have understood.

Do you REALLY think the scrabble rules care what you MEAN? The scrabble rules don't give a fuck about your intent, they only care if the letters you use create an actual WORD. JAP is an acronym. Jap is a slur/abbreviation. NEITHER is a fucking word.

Now keep the fuck up please. sheesh. It's like a fucking kindergarten around here.

And did you just claim that "US or UK or Fr" are "proper nouns"???!!! WTF!!!???

Your homework assignment for the day is to look up the meaning of "Proper noun" ROFLMFAO.

I think your continuing debates with the morons on this board have rotted your brain. This has got to be the DUMBEST post I have ever seen written by you.

If you tried the word "Nip" which is, just like Jap, a slur AND an abbreviation of the word Nippon, which is the Japanese word for Japan, that word as you "intended" it would NOT be a word, but the Scrabble rules wouldn't give a fuck and the word would be accepted because "nip" is indeed a word unlike Jap which has no meaning other than being an abbreviation/slur for Japanese.

Is is finally beginning to sink in yet CDL? I am not even going to try and figure your idiotic statement about Proper Nouns.

Please just take the L and move on.

I would've considered NIP to be short for nipple.  But in a classic "Seinfeld" episode, Elaine started being called "Nip" because of a nip slip in a photo Kramer took of her for inclusion with her Christmas cards.  That would be a nickname in this instance, & also not valid for the game.

Apples and Oranges.  Yes, nip is a word as in nip and tuck, or the dog took a nip at the boy.  The fact that it is ALSO the first three letters of Nippon is not the same as Jap.  There is no word in the English language that is jap with a small J. Dictionaries only list Jap with a capital J, and THAT is why its not allowed in Scrabble.  Nice try, but its a fail for you this time.   I know its happy hour there, but take another look in the morning, or do a little research.

I would suggest that YOU are the one who needs to re-read this thread, you were on the right track when you corrected that other idiot, KC whatever the fuck his name is, but then you lost it again when you tried to justify your original mistake, just like Conan the idiot does every time he is busted making a bigger mistake than the one he corrected.

You are half right about the word "jap" not only is there no word "jap" with a small j, there is no actual word "jap" at all. The only thing you will find in the dictionary under "jap" is that it is both an abbreviation AND a slur, but not an actual word. PLEASE quit trying to PUI, neither you nor Bob are any good at it.

Jap is not allowed in Scrabble because it's not a fucking word, PERIOD.

He has a brain that was never formed fully. It is not rotten! It has nothing to do with debating on this board ... if anything, the assignable cause for his dumbness is keeping company with YOU!

And, FWIW, I can't believe some 'grownups' can debate the epistemological root/ meaning of the word jap (which is nothing but a short form of Japanese; and mostly used as a slur. Some people do argue that - Jap is an innocent abbreviation of people or things that are Japanese; but jap with a lower-case j is mostly a slur. This difference is actionable only in writing. In speaking it is in the manner it is spoken!

this topic in the context of a Scrabble game , as I explained already, and you are clearly out of your depth, here is a link to the official rules at the Hasbro  website.  AS I ALREADY TOLD YOU, nip is a word, jap is not.  US, UK and Fr. are abbreviations for proper nouns, just like Jap.,  and therefore not allowed. . . . .

prop·er noun

/ˈpräpər noun/

noun

1.
a name used for an individual person, PLACE, or organization, SPELLED WITH INITIAL CAPITAL LETTERS, e.g., Larry, Mexico, and Boston Red Sox.

Now you're doing what Rocket does by misstating what other people said so you can deflect from your own lack of knowledge.   You call him out for that all the time.

If you had read KCMOSHY's post, who said the word "Jap" was disallowed in a Scrabble game, which was the context of my post, you would Not have embarrassed yourself by jumping in  with the Jewish American Princess explanation.  That had nothing to do with my response to KC, but you buried yourself and now you are trying to deflect and control the damage.   I'm a bit embarrassed for you, but you chose to double down, I didn't force you.
