Exactly, why go through a bullshit trial if you don’t have to.

Notice that all of these attempts to prosecute Trump didn’t start till he made a few noises about running again?

Immunity from Prosecution

He was talking about running the minute he was no longer President.  And quite frankly, he has delayed his case for 6 months to a year.  And now, he wants to delay it again.  He knows he can't convince judges.  He can only delay and hope he wins the election.

The world knew he was running.  The announcement only formalized it.
