As far as I have seen, he's Ivy league educated not USNA.  Was he in ROTC or did he enlist and go OCS?

Anyone who has a college degree can be accepted as an officer candidate. The Academies are the place to go if you want to become a command officer.

From the Kerry website:

John Kerry enlisted in the Navy in 1966. After completing Naval Officer Candidates School, he began his first tour of duty on the USS Gridley, a guided-missile frigate in the waters adjacent to Vietnam. In 1968, John Kerry began his second tour of duty, and volunteered to serve on a Swift Boat, one of the most dangerous assignments of the war.

If you mean to imply that Kerry applied for a deferment, I'd love to see your source, assuming that you didn't just pull that out of your ass.

Oh yeah, I can; by fraud, corruption, and theft.

Thankfully, he won't get a second chance.  Especially after getting his ass kicked in tonight's debate!!!

.....sheesh!  For your knowledge I did do a little homework but turned up nothing.  BTW, It was for my own curiosity and not meant for any kind of partisan bickering.

I don't know how Kerry got there but I do know, being a vets from that era, that you enlist 1st with the condition that you will go to OCS as a condition of your enlistment.  OCS in my day was several months, up to 6, of pure Hell.  I would be much more likely believe that Kerry went through Navel ROTC.  It should be easy to find out by contacting or writing the Kerry folks.  My .02

I was approached by some Officers that were impressed by my test scores and wanted me to enroll in OCS. I respectfully declined and stuck with my original choice. Young and dumb is all I can say, I should have taken them up on their offer.

I happen to agree with you- you asked a legit q.  But I will say that from your prior strident posts- people were entitled to think you were fishing, as you line up with some vets- wierd thinking vets, but vets nonetheless...
