2,000 troops being sent back to Afghanistan to assist in the evacuation. Another 3,000 being sent to Kuwait as a reserve force. US Embassy personnel preparing to destroy sensitive papers, phones, computers, communications as there are indications Kabul could be under siege in the coming days.

One contingency being considered in the Pentagon is to level the Embassy after evacuating remaining Americans in Kabul. That’s a bit extreme, but what other alternatives are feasible?

Then wait for the Taliban to occupy other government offices and level those as well.
'tini would enjoy that.

Leveling it would be appropriate.

Announcing a no later than end date turned out to be a really dumb way to retreat.

until the drop-dead date and they will minimize their casualties when they walk into Kabul and take over the government.

as usual!
You didn’t say anything new to agree or disagree with. Remember, Taliban’s message to the westerners ‘you have the watch, we have the time.’
So waiting is nothing new for them or their types. They have done it for the ages! Get a history lesson.

The Empire Stopper.
"When the American author James A. Michener went to Afghanistan to research his work of historical fiction, “Caravans,” it was 1955 and there were barely any roads in the country. Yet there were already Americans and Russians there, jockeying for influence. Later, the book’s Afghan protagonist would tell an American diplomat that one day both America and Russia would invade Afghanistan, and that both would come to regret it.

"Michener’s foresight was uncanny, but perhaps that is not terribly surprising. Afghanistan has long been called the “graveyard of empires” — for so long that it is unclear who coined that disputable term."

He invaded Afghanistan in 330 B.C. and then said:

Unfortunately the lesson of history is that we do not learn from history. We don’t have the power, resources, nor widespread cooperation to install western style democracies in most of the countries in the world. We need to let these countries find their own ways and solve their own problems, and this may involve our having to watch some very negative things. At this time I think we can all agree that the status of women in Afghanistan under Taliban rule will be changing very much for the worse. But what will we be able to do about it?

All that being said, I fear that it will only be a matter of time before we’re once again involved in some “noble” cause somewhere else in the world going down the same path once again. That seems to be our destiny.

But what a waste of time, lives and money.
They should have watched Rambo III and avoided this mess.

because of the substance of my post, not in general.  Nice try in changing the context, but its there already for all to read.  He still has no answer to my question.  I think its because he doesn't want to admit that he's a bigger moron than anyone here. Are you honesty saying that Genital Guy has NOT been proven a moron many times over?  You read his posts just like the rest of us.  Do you have any integrity left that would let you answer honestly?

If not, I could have. In any case, I have exposed your tendentious, wrong-headed and partisan posts for the intellectually bankrupt twaddle they are.
Which may, or may not mean you're a moron. I leave that for others to decide....
