Not everyone here knows about MSG, its origin or its name.  Therefore ...
.
Madison Square is a public square formed by the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway at 23rd Street in New York City.  (going back to the 1800s)
.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_Square_and_Madison_Square_Park#Madison_Square_Garden
There were at least two Madison Square Gardens at Madison Square.
.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_Square_Garden
The CURRENT MSG is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New York City. It is located in Midtown Manhattan between Seventh and Eighth avenues from 31st to 33rd streets above Pennsylvania Station. It is the fourth venue to bear the name "Madison Square Garden."
.
Basically, "Madison" comes from Madison Square at 5th Ave x Broadway which was named for Pres. James Madison.
"Garden" comes from the use of a large building / arena near the original Madison Square and Madison Park as an indoor Garden.
The rebuilt the new arena opened in 1969 at 8th Ave x 32nd St.
.
MSG isn't near Madison Square, Park, or Avenue. It isn't a square. It was named after its predecessor MSG which were named for being near Madison Square. It isn't a garden (flower garden) but one of its predecessors was named for having an indoor garden of sorts.
.
That history is NOT to say that the next iteration of MSG (if there is one or if the name will be retired) won't be a Cube, hence MCG. But now you know how the current MSG got to be where it is and how it got its name.

In the current one today, a racist comic referred to Puerto Rico as "an island of garbage." The Trump campaign is desperately doing cleanup on that one.

They're trying to blame this rhetoric about Puerto Rico on a so-called comedian. The Trump campaign knew exactly what was going to be said before they went on and now they have to deal with the fallout?
I've never heard of the guy but if you thought it was funny, then good for you.
Gutfeld??...not surprised.

Do you remember the discussion of Trump accusing Harris of lying because she didn't include her after school job at McDonalds on her resume? You don't put "McDs" on your professional legal CV.
.
"- Job a McDs? Relevant on some of your resumes (a job at BK); not relevant on some other resumes (professional resumes).
.
- Full time job posting to TER? That appears on a resume for a job as a piano player at a bordello. That does not appear on your resume submitted with an application for a teaching job at St. Catherine's Academy for Young Girls."

.
Funny or not, there is a time and place for each kind of material. Trump gave a speech at the Boy Scouts National meeting and gave the kids a lesson about Golden Showers. That's right, "pissing on someone" golden showers, not a reference to the weather forecasting merit badge. Trump was speaking at a church with children in attendance and mentioned "bullshit" several times.  At the recent Al Smith Dinner, Trump let loose with some profanities in the presence of NY Cardinal Dolan.
.
To put it another way, "Grab 'em by the pussy!" is "locker room talk" or in the ACTUAL instance, "Access Hollywood bus talk". It should not be bragged about at a Church, the BSA meeting, or even a campaign rally.
.
Funny or not, the MSG campaign rally, with a large broadcast audience, was not the right place for that material ... as many REPUBLICANS have already stated. Apparently, Baron Trump recommended the comedian to Donald Sr.. I was GOING to say "recommended the comedian to his father" but you can't be sure in that family.  Donald approved Baron's recommendation and, it has been reported, his material was approved by the Trump Team.

The Dem campaign strategy entering the final week is being mortally offended by an off color joke and shrieking "Trump is a fascist" at the top of their lungs. That and Kamala's endless "word salads" are what they're presenting as their platform for the nation.

IMHO it's the worst campaign I've seen in my lifetime--nothing else comes close--not even George McGovern's 1972 platform of "acid, amnesty, and abortion."

Even Trump backers are running away from Tony Hinchcliffe’s racist jokes. Will they help Harris?
"Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made few people laugh during a racist speech at Madison Square Garden where he called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” and leaned on other racist tropes during the Trump campaign rally. ...
But even Trump supporters were doing damage control as Hinchcliffe’s set went viral — in a bad way. ...
.
"Hinchcliffe, 40, was one of three dozen speakers at the rally, but stood out as one of the most offensive who drew groans from the crowd and backlash from both sides of the political aisle. Trump advisor Peter Navarro called Hinchcliffe “the biggest, stupidest a— that ever came down the comedy pike,” according to reporting from Politico. ...
.
"During his 12-minute set, Hinchcliffe made racist comments about Mexicans crossing the border and jokes about Jewish and Black people that used antisemitic and racist tropes. ... His jokes repeatedly fell flat for the rally goers, who voiced their frustration with his material. ...
.
"While he might have touted his love for the former president, the Trump campaign distanced itself from the firestorm following Hinchcliffe’s set. “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign,” campaign advisor Danielle Alvarez told Fox News in statement about the comment made about Puerto Rico.
.
"Republican Sen. Rick Scott wrote in a social media post on X that Hinchcliffe’s joke was “not funny and not true.”

Woke, schmoke.  "He is an Insult comic, that's  his shtick." Most adults agree with that. And some of his material is funny. TIME and PLACE are being criticized.
.
Don Rickles did not use the same routine or jokes or insults when he was on Ed Sullivan (family TV) vs. The Tonight Show (late night TV) vs. A Celebrity Roast vs. live performance to a closed audience (e.g., Las Vegas show) vs. other venues.  In addition, much of Rickles' schtick was directed at WILLING TARGETS of his jokes: insulting Frank Sinatra TO HIS FACE who then doubles over in laughter at the remarks; and so on for every other celebrity.
.
But poor Red Buttons ... Never got a dinner.

The woketard leftists who tried to ruin comedy with cancel culture demonstrate that they don’t understand it, and have never heard of roasts. IMP: “he’s an insult comic”. Nitwit.

“Bert Kreischer looks like if the Tiger King and the Liver King only ate Burger King and had a liver that looked like Martin Luther King got beat up by Rodney King”

This guy isn’t an “insult comic”. He’s a comedic genius. Woketard leftists have no clue because they don’t have a sense of humor.
