http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_Conscience

The Declaration of Conscience was a speech made by U.S. Senator Margaret Chase Smith on June 1, 1950, less than four months after Senator Joe McCarthy's "Wheeling Speech," on February 9, 1950. Her speech was endorsed by six other liberal-to-moderate Republicans. In it, she criticized national leadership and called for the country, the United States Senate, and the Republican Party to re-examine the tactics used by the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) and (without naming him) Senator Joe McCarthy. She stated the basic principles of "Americanism" were:

- The right to criticize;
- The right to hold unpopular beliefs;
- The right to protest;
- The right of independent thought.

Smith voiced concern that those who exercised those beliefs at that time risked unfairly being labeled communist or fascist.

In the Declaration of Conscience, Smith said,

"The Democratic administration has greatly lost the confidence of the American people by its complacency to the threat of communism and the leak of vital secrets to Russia through key officials of the Democratic administration. There are enough proved cases to make this point without diluting our criticism with unproved charges.

Surely these are sufficient reasons to make it clear to the American people that it is time for a change and that a Republican victory is necessary to the security of this country. Surely it is clear that this nation will continue to suffer as long as it is governed by the present ineffective Democratic Administration.

Yet to displace it with a Republican regime embracing a philosophy that lacks political integrity or intellectual honesty would prove equally disastrous to this nation. The nation sorely needs a Republican victory. But I don't want to see the Republican Party ride to political victory on the Four Horsemen of Calumny -- Fear, Ignorance, Bigotry and Smear.

I doubt if the Republican Party could -- simply because I don't believe the American people will uphold any political party that puts political exploitation above national interest."

enumerated "Rights".  The current Dems should take a look at these.  With regards to this list in today's political climate . . . . .

1.  Dems don't believe in the right of Republicans to criticize Dems.  If you do, you are branded a racist.
2.  Dems don't allow other to hold beliefs that are different from theirs, unpopular or not.
3.  Dems believe THEY have the right to protest, even I it means beating people up like ANTIFA does.  If Republicans protest, they are called racists, Nazi's and KKK.
4.  Dems do not believe in allowing thoughts that are independent of theirs.

Funny how much things have changed for the Dems since the 50's.

Once again you mis-characterize Dems or paint with such a broad brush you assume ALL Dems think or say the same thing.
1) Of course Dems believe in the right of Reps to criticize them or anyone else. When did any Dem ever say otherwise? Dems DON'T generally call Reps racists. They call TRUMP a racist because he SAYS racist things.
2) Please cite me ANY example of a Dem denying a Rep has the RIGHT to believe something Dems don't believe in? They may assert the Reps are WRONG to believe it, but NOT that they don't have the right to be wrong.
3) Find my any serious Dem who supports Antifas?
4) Your entire assertion is utterly without foundation.
So thanks for putting up an entire post that is total bullshit.

Off the top of my head so I don't have to look anything up (lol) . . . . . .

1)  During the Kavanaugh hearings the Senator from Hawaii said men should just shut up.  Granted, she may have been including some Dem men, but she was primarily talking about GOP Congressional members.
2)  Squad member Ayanna Presley gave a speech last week where she said if you're black, you need to speak with a "black" voice, if you're brown, you need to speak with a brown voice, and if you're gay, you need to speak with a gay voice.  The Lib media characterized it as calling out conservatives in these three groups and telling them to switch sides or shut up.
3)  The Dems regard Antifa the way Muslims were regarding ISIS.  No one says they support it, but likewise, very few come out and say they condemn it,  so they just remain silent and let Antifa do their thing the way Muslims did with ISIS.

That's all I have time for right now.  My SB just woke up and wants to fuck. Chew on this for awhile.

1) So one Dem said "men should just shut up" and that means ALL DEMS agree with her? BULLSHIT.
2) One other Dem (and Squad member) gave a stupid speech and you think this means ALL Dems agree? BULLSHIT.
3) Your claim that ALL Dems support Antifa is BULLSHIT. Prove it. You can't.
So chew on this for awhile: BULLSHIT

I used the word "ALL" in any of my posts on this thread was to tell you "that's all I had time for" because my SB was waking up and needed some dick.  I note that you have added the word ALL (in caps each time no less), to make it LOOK like you are quoting me, but you're not.  So who is really the Bullshitter here?

Your original statements, while not using the word ALL, clearly implied it and were definitely blanket statements not supported by the facts. Again you argue just like your Philly lawyer/word parser pal, Wu. It won't wash.

trying to guess what I meant when the language I used doesn't support your conclusion, then I will put your name up for Pedantic Putz of the Year.

The language you used supports my conclusion EXACTLY. You win Pusillanimous Putz of the Year.

out of argument, you still like to argue.  Your statement is conclusory and offers no explanation how the language supports your conclusion exactly.  That makes it an especially WEAK argument.

You asked me for examples and I gave them to you.  I never used the word "ALL."  YOU need to have it there because without it, your response doesn't work and you lose.  You didn't think I had examples, so you had a little egg on your face.  Wipe it off, take the L and move on.

Poor Jake is suffering from the same think as Bob Mueller. He has a severe case of "Oldtimers", and he simply can't remember what he wrote only hours before, and he's too lazy to even look up the page a couple of posts where he clearly asked you for ANY example, which is EXACTLY what you provided.

Just like with Bob Mueller it's pointless to get mad at him, we can pity him for what he has become today and  just try to remember him back when he had all his faculties. Too bad Jake (and Bob) can't even remember yesterday, much less their glory years.

Anyone reading this branch (except that King of Parsing, Wu) knows your broad statements were totally refuted. You are now just trying to argue like Wu. In that, you have succeeded.
Pardon me while I take a victory lap.

Here's what cdl actually wrote. And if you think the word "ALL" isn't clearly implied by his words, please turn in that useless GED you bought.
"1.  Dems don't believe in the right of Republicans to criticize Dems.  If you do, you are branded a racist.
2.  Dems don't allow other to hold beliefs that are different from theirs, unpopular or not.

Game, set and match. To Jake. As usual.

in NOT awesome?  You better tell that to the 60% of Americans who say they are better off now than under Obama.  There aren't THAT many GOP'ers and indies, so there are some Dems that are admitting they are better off, too.  Do you think they will risk going back to the Obama years by voting for Biden?
