Because, as the rumors say, he handed over the DNC emails to Wikileaks?  But that would mean the Russians did not hack, despite all our intelligence agencies saying they did.  But if these rumors are wrong and the Russians did in fact hack, why kill him?  Did he know the Russians hacked?  How?  Did he help hack?  But if he gave a password or the like, there would be no trace of hacking.
