Looks like our government finally realized this guy is a joke!  And correction to my post below about his salary, I thought he was getting paid $400K a year, no, it is $340K a month!!!  He's been there how long now?  a year?  I wonder where he deposits his paychecks, at the local Washington Mutual in downtown Baghdad Ralphs supremarket???    I think it's more like Credit Suisse.

at least based on the job Bush has been doing so far.

I doubt that Chalabi himself has gotten more than 75 of our guys killed so far in Iraq, whereas Bush is responsible for over 750 dead brave Americans and counting.

What are the chances this raid on his house was staged so that it now seems he is not a friend of the US, thus making him more palatable to the Iraqis?

I don't think that there is a conspiracy to elevate Chalabi's standing with the Iraqis. It's seems more likely that the Pentagon finally, after way too long, realized that they have been conned.
