He's now run out of time and the money will be paid to his rape victim, reports the NY Times:
"A federal judge on Wednesday ordered that the writer E. Jean Carroll should promptly receive a $5 million jury award, days after the Supreme Court rejected an appeal by President Trump and despite his last-minute attempt to get the justices to reconsider.

In a two-page order, Judge Lewis A. Kaplan of Manhattan federal court cited the Supreme Court’s June 29 order denying Mr. Trump’s request that the justices review the matter. That cleared the way for the funds, which Mr. Trump had deposited with the court, to be released to Ms. Carroll.

A Manhattan jury awarded the multimillion-dollar judgment to Ms. Carroll in May 2023 after finding him liable for sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. The jury also found that Mr. Trump defamed Ms. Carroll by calling her allegations against him 'a Hoax and a lie' on social media. He has continued to deny assaulting Ms. Carroll."

You would think it would be over by now, but on July 6 Trump's lawyer's filed a petition to the Supreme Court to reconsider their denial of Trump's appeal, which the Trump lawyers claim the $5.8 judgement should not be dispersed until the petition is heard by the court, which has a less than nil chance of being granted.  Delay, Delay, Delay.

"In the last analysis, defendant [Donald J. Trump] has been stalling this case for years. A jury unanimously concluded that he sexually abused and defamed plaintiff [E. Jean Carroll] and awarded her damages accordingly. The judgment on that verdict has been upheld on appeal. En banc rehearing has been denied. The Supreme Court has denied certiorari without dissent. It is time for him to 'do equity' and pay the judgment.”

What is the chance he'll declare bankruptcy? Trump will do anything not to have to pay her.

enforcement of the judgment, but they can require Trump to post a bond with the court, which requires a 10% bond fee, plus a pledge of real estate collateral to the bonding company.  Appeals could run this out several more years.  Meanwhile, the old bitch could croak, and Trump could potentially settle for a lot less with her heirs.

"Trump’s attorneys filed a notice of appeal of the judge’s order hours after it was released, asking the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for an immediate temporary pause on the order. The court denied the bid late Wednesday night."
Dream on...

He can try again at the State Supreme Court, then the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ne York, then Appeal to the 2nd Circuit Court, and finally the U.S. Supreme Court.

I have waited a few people out in my own business dealings and heirs do not usually have the stomach for protracted legal proceedings, much less money of their own to continue the litigation, so that is the time to get a great deal on discounted assets, often 25-30% below market value.  I'm betting once she is gone, her heirs will just want the money and any "principles" she had about this are no longer relevant.

So she can be unable to claim the money she was awarded for being raped and lied about?
Nice.

...and finally the U.S. Supreme Court."  WRONG!!!

Trump HAS ALREADY APPEALED to the United States Court of Appeal for the Second Circuit which upheld the jury's decision.
Trump then filled a Petition for a Writ of Certiorari with the Supreme Court requesting that the Court review the Second Circuit's decision.
On June 29, the Supreme Court denied cert.
On July 8, Trump filed a petition for a rehearing of the denial of cert.  It's a last gasp which has a one in a million chance of succeeding.

COEUR-D'UNE-PETITE GARCE tried to show he has a modicum of legal knowledge but all he succeeded in doing is prove he's a fucking moron.

One can only be "convicted" in a CRIMINAL trial, you fucking moron.
The jury did not find him LIABLE for rape because New York has a specific narrow definition of rape.
But the judge in the case later clarified that the jury's finding of sexual abuse "necessarily implies" Trump forcibly penetrated her, which fits the common, everyday definition of rape.  So, YES, Trump raped E. Jean Carroll.

she was awarded for being raped.  Rape is a crime.  The standard for prevailing in a civil case is 51.1 to 49.9, so there is huge margin for error compared to a criminal case where the standard is "beyond a reasonable doubt" and the verdict must be unanimous.   A civil trial is like a 5-4 decision in the supreme court, but it doesn't mean the four who got it wrong should be impeached, it just means that mistakes happen that sometimes produce a wrong verdict.  Interpreting the law is tricky, even more so for laymen jurors.

Oftentimes, a crooked judge makes rulings that are wrong.   King Charles III just pardoned a woman posthumously that was convicted for murder and hanged due to faulty jury instructions by the judge at her trial.  A partner in a successful law firm will earn over $1,000,000 a year, while a Federal Judge earns $197,100 a year.   Not exactly the best and brightest in these judicial positions.   Mistakes happen every day.  Some are accidental and some are intentional as we have seen with the activist judges who are being overturned on appeal all the time.

she spent on lawyers to go through the appeal process.  I think Trump missed an opportunity to make a "deal" by offering her half way back in the beginning.  She might be coming out worse than that after the lawyers get paid.

YES!!!!!  We do know how much E. Jean Carroll spent on her lawyers - NOTHING, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH.  Her lawyers took the case on a contingency fee basis and the upfront costs were funded by Reid Hoffman.  COEUR-DE-CHAPON should know this because he replied to the post where I wrote:
"...Reid Hoffman, the guy who funded Carroll's lawsuit."

That was a little over a month ago.  Apparently, 67 year-old COEUR-D'UNE-PETITE GARCE now has Alzheimer's in addition to already being a fucking moron.

Even if CDL forgot my post, Reid Hoffman was brought up during the trial.  The judge allowed Trump’s incompetent lawyers to question Carroll about Hoffman’s funding her legal fees.

What we will never know is how much CDL spent on his education.  Whatever the amount is, the money was wasted because CDL is a fucking moron.

...because of his useless appeals of a unanimous jury verdict.

We will never know how much Trump spent on lawyers to go through the appeals process.  But there's a pretty good chance Trump wasted an additional $1,000,000 between lawyers and interest pursuing his futile appeals.
