Interesting poll. But note the scandal has grown since this poll was taken. NY Post ran a story highlighting the efforts his administration took to suppress the nursing home data, and CNN has reinstated its rule banning his brother Chris from having the Governor on his show. So the fallout continues.

Wondering if Nicky, our resident NY man on the street, can let us know what the average New Yorker thinks of this story.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's (D) approval rating in his state has not suffered despite revelations that he undercounted the number of COVID-19 deaths among nursing home residents.

According to a new Siena College Research Institute poll released Tuesday, Cuomo's overall favorability rating stands at 56 percent among registered voters, with 39 percent having an unfavorable opinion of him. That's a negligible change from January, when his approval rating sat at 57 percent to 39 percent

The poll was conducted Feb. 7-11, which was after the state attorney general released a report on the undercount but before a New York Post story was released investigating Cuomo's resistance to publicizing the nursing home death figures

I'll tell you what I think, though.
I've voted for Cuomo and generally supported him because he's been an effective Governor, has strengthened the state's finances and generally gotten things done, especially on infrastructure.
That said, I have never liked him. I find him authoritarian, vindictive and combative. A friend who knows him says he's a miserable prick who's hellacious to work for.
I was willing to overlook these traits because of the positive stuff. I was even willing to put aside the nursing home fiasco because everyone dealing with the pandemic, especially early on, had incomplete information on the disease and how it spread, and very poor leadership at the Federal level. But I part ways when it turns out he was covering up and covering his ass over the number of deaths. I can't imagine voting for him again and think he should resign, or at least not run again.
I don't doubt future polls will show his support has eroded.

That’s a good take, with interesting personal insight.

Seems like your feelings towards Cuomo mirrored many Republicans’ feelings towards Trump...

Trump has killed LOTS more people.
Trump has lied MANY more times.
Trump is FAR stupider.
Trump will spend FAR more time in jail

They've both done the same sorta of thing. People in general are looking over the noise and seeing how they've performed overall, Although in De Santis's case I for the life of me can't see how he's done it, but it's Texas so who the fuck knows, opps did I say Texas??..... My bad I mean Florida, both the same to me
