Basically commutes 14 sentences and pardons virtually everyone else arrested for the January 6th riot. Proud Boys  leader Enrique Tarrio, was sentenced to 22 years in prison and Trump wants him out immediately..

"This proclamation ends a grave national injustice that has been perpetrated upon the American people over the last four years and begins a process of national reconciliation.

Acting pursuant to the grant of authority in Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution of the United States, I do hereby:

(a)  commute the sentences of the following individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, to time served as of January 20, 2025:

(b)  grant a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021;

The Attorney General shall administer and effectuate the immediate issuance of certificates of pardon to all individuals described in section (b) above, and shall ensure that all individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, who are currently held in prison are released immediately.  The Bureau of Prisons shall immediately implement all instructions from the Department of Justice regarding this directive.

My thoughts? These rioters were treated much more severely by the judicial system than the George Floyd rioters. I don’t think there was an equal application of justice. The violent offenders have already served time. First in the deplorable DC jail, and after conviction in federal prisons.  They’ve all paid a price, and this Trump action allows us to close the book on an ugly chapter in our history. I would have recommended pardoning:commuting violent offenders on a case by case basis, but I can support our president’s decision to take care of the problem in one fell swoop.

Your moral compass is seriously out of whack. The rioters were trying to derail the most sacred act of certifying a Presidential election. That's sedition. The rioters were also wrong. But they were protesting the murder of a man by police.

Here’s the part where any reply to Nicky is going to be responded to by him with “I didn’t say that!” or “You’re putting words in my mouth” or “reading comprehension problem”. So what, I’m going to interpret Nicky’s declaration here. He’s implying that the sentences handed out to the Floyd rioters and the J6 rioters was even handed and fair. He couldn’t be more wrong.

It’s my opinion that a vast majority of the Floyd rioters and looters weren’t even arrested, let alone tried, convicted and sentenced to harsh terms. Contrast to the J6 rioters who were subject to a mass nationwide dragnet prior to receiving excessive sentences.

Some libs are going to wail and scream how unfair and unjust Trump’s pardons are here, but the reality is, and polling backs this up, that the majority of the country is ready to move on and put this ugly episode behind us.

I’m not “putting words in the mouth” of millions of Americans. I am reminding you that the majority of 2024 electorate didn’t give a fuck about January 6, 2021. Even those who voted for Kamala, when polled, put J6 far down the list of concerns that were guiding their voting booth decisions.  

In all seriousness Nicky, what we have here in this thread is honestly just a difference of opinion. I support law enforcement and I believe you do too.  This isn’t about hackery, this is about trying to unify the country and putting unnecessary divisions behind us.

Ohhh really? and this hair whisker? What Herculean effort put a stop to this? Did swat teams come in and arrest them all? Did the Capitol Police close ranks with riot shields and lock-step them out of the capitol? Did the National Guard show up and force them all out?

Or did the rioters (cause that's what they were, a mob, not an armed insurrection) got tired and went home. If they had been an organized insurrection they would have brought guns and killed people, breached the safe spaces and taken the congress hostage and forced a change in our government, or taken over the government.

Much to your disappointment, the vote was certified after the riot was over and a PEACEFUL TRANSFER OF POWER HAPPENED ! ! ! and this riot was not led by nor instigated by Trump. Quit telling lies ICKY ODB!

We had watched the whole summer as cities were burned and businesses looted. Our celebs and dems "stood with them". Our previous vice president said "we are gonna stay in these streets". What a dirtbag move to the hard working citizens, landlords and business owners.  

At least the protesters on Jan 6th knew whom thier problems were with. I mean, nothing like looting a shoe store in Santa Monica to really show those Police in Minnesota.
