Among the many idiocies in the Trump/Musk interview, Trump hinted he'd flee to Venezuela if he lost

Yep, he really said it. Well, better that than fostering another insurrection.

The Washington Post’s Cleve Wootson: “Elon Musk is slated to interview Donald Trump tonight on X. I don't know if the president is going to — feel free to say if he is or not — but I — I think that misinformation on Twitter is not just a campaign issue. It's a — you know, it's an America issue. What role does the White House or the President have any sort of stopping that or stopping the spread of that or sort of inter — intervening in that. Some of that was about campaign misinformation, but you know it's a wider thing, right?”

Wootson asked for the censorship in a press conference with KJP.
.
This is the Washington Post.  The "paper of record", "democracy dies in darkness" asking the government to shut down Elon's conversation with Trump.

Meanwhile the Elon/Trump interview was listened to a billion times.

Now you’re claiming 1 billion listeners? You’re a lying hack troll. 1 billion counts the views of the post about it, which is not a listen, and any post on twitter and each and every reply to said post, that in any way seems to be about it. 1 billion impressions os what they are trying to claim, and even that’s a lie. According to Trump himself it peaked at 2.1 million listeners. But knowing Trump this number is inflated. You, Trumpf, and Mushk are all cut from the same cloth.

I’m guessing about 50 million of those were from people reloading the page due to the DDOS attack. Weird how that happened right on cue. 😂😂😂

It started nearly an hour late.
Two hours of softball questions from a non-journalist
A non-journalist who is a major campaign donor
MAGAts now desperately trying to puff up the #s as Trump sinks in the polls
But they insist they are....

I caught some of it while I was driving home. I thought it was an interesting conversation. Would like to see Kamala and RFK Jr participate in a similarly formatted event.

There are many RFKjr long form interviews out there.
.
Kamala is hiding, not even doing friendlies.  I suspect there are two main reasons -- 1. They are still poll testing her platform positions so she doesn't know what to say. 2. They know she can't stop cackling when off script and they know it makes her look stupid.

The equal time rule http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal-time_rule applies to radio and TV (FCC regulated public resources). It does not apply to the internet.
.
However ... I wonder if the Dems can REQUEST equal time from twitter for their own 2-hour conversation with a friendly host of their choice. I would spend a portion of that time fact checking Trump's crazy talk in pre-taped snippets.
.
I wonder if the FEC considers 2-hours of "free twitter advertising" to be a campaign contribution? If the Dems ask to PURCHASE 2-hours of a huge amount of bandwidth, what would twitter charge for it?

Musk already offered the same hosting deal to Kamala.  In fact anyone can open a Twitter/X spaces.  She could do it today with the guest of her choice. Or Elon said he'd do it if she wanted.  She has complete freedom to do it anytime with anyone.

Imp’s faulty premise is what makes his idea a non- starter from the get go.

You do realize a lot of us Dems who dislike Trump and don't feel he is fit to be President find him entertaining? Like seriously, I tune in sometimes just to laugh at him. Not with him. At him. He's such a fool I cannnot help myself. Some of the things he says are so wild I feel like I want to hear it just for giggles. If nothing else, he gives all of us something to talk about. So, while we may not want our country in his hands, we still tune in to him and talk about him for other reasons. Don't for one second think the 1 billion impressions is a sign of support for him.

You guys seem to be putting all your hopes in these polls right now. Harris is not ahead by any kind of large margin whatsoever. The lefties of the group make it sound as though shes so far ahead that we dont even need to have an election. Just a month or so ago you were the same ones saying "oh uhhh well uhh..see the polls aren't really accurate right now so...uhhh"
Now look at you. The polls, the polls, oh look at the polls.

You can make fun of this all you want but if you aren't looking at actual real people (besides the polls which by comparisonis a small number of people) you're missing the bigger "grass roots" picture.
Do you see Harris yard signs, window stickers, billboards etc? Does your personal social media pages show people voicing support for Harris? Those are your voters boys.
I'm just not seeing any. And i mean none. What's all the hooplah about with a woman who has no business being president with only "polls". She's a puppet. That's it. It's a shame that people will fall for a government that is led by a damn puppet. We just went through 4 years of puppetry. Who wants that.

Anyone putting hope in the polls in a vacuum is dumb. They are with margins of error and not reliable enough. That said, anyone with a brain prefers to be ahead in them regardless. While they may come with room for error, they also bring hope. The more ahead the polls show you, the more hope you have that you might actually win.

But we all know polls mean nothing if the people don't come to vote when it matters. No one should be sleeping at the wheel and thinking it's in the bag. I sure as shit am not. But I am less afraid of Trump than I was a month ago. Because I have more hope.

On the flip side, you should be more nervous. Your hope should be down. It's only natural to feel this way when polls are down. If you are not, you are denying the reality of things. The change has not been good for Trump. Does this mean he will lose? No, of course not. There is no winner yet. Why you think us dems think Harris has this in the bag already is beyond me.

But your last statement is just dumb. Signs, window stickers, and billboards? Personal Social Media page? Oh for fucks sake. First, did you get in your car and drive around the entire country? I'm guessing no. Maybe you went to work, for some groceries, or to the local bar. Your sample size doesn't paint a picture of the country. And, neither does mine. So don't mistake this for me claiming I am seeing the real truth. I see what I see in my local area, as do you. For what it's worth, I see way more for Harris/Welz, but I know better than to read into this since it's a product of where I live and doesn't represent the whole country.

And then the social media. Dude. So, you're telling me that the people you chose to make friends with represent the true voters in the country? Because you surround yourself with dems, republicans, independents, blacks, whites, latinos, men, women, the LGBT community, etc... Me thinks not. You, like most people, probably have a closer network of like minded people. As do I. So, my social media of over one thousand people are over 90% in support of Harris/Welz and that means jack shit. Why? Because I naturally surround myself with more people who's values are like mine. And come on, my one thousand though sizable for a social network is a pathetically small sample of the country. I'm sure yours is too.

The irony of your post is you shit on polls which attempt to sample a variety of people from a variety of areas and go on to suggest your neighborhood and social network are better predictors than the polls. That's a good fucking laugh.

As I said....
You can make fun of that all you want, But you better be paying attention. Those are REAL voters, not an online poll which (as you said) are not real voters necessarily. And nope, I did not drive all around the country. But I do a fair amount of travel for work and I HAVE been paying attention.
You're close-minded ego trip narrative, California way of thinking will never outdo common sense. Oh... don't mind me, I surely don't know anything right??
As it turns out, the ethnic groups that you mentioned above may not be a part of your social media but they just happen to be a part of mine. Lots of people from all walks of life. What do  you think we do...put up a rule on our social media outlets that says "only republican friends accepted" ........DUDE.........fucking moron??

So yeah.....at your age, your friend's group is probably very small. Mine is much larger. But that's not the point here. So .....you's be wrong.

I almost started to give you an ounce of credit, but after reading that retard of a reply, makes it crystal clear that you can't see the Forrest for the trees. Your every bit as stupid as I thought you were. Dont take my word for it...... go read your posts here. Good grief man? I could see right through you the minute you posted on this board. And I was right "Mr LA"

Sounds like you suggest to ignore actual people's political stances in your community and in other communities all around you and rely on the "online polls" and your 3 friends here.....yeah. Also a good fucking laugh...........

The polls, the polls.......oh look at the polls.....

I’m sure as shit you don’t know those taking polls are not real voters and everyone in your social and driving around network are. That’s just moronic. Someone willing to take an election poll is probably more likely to vote than the national average. Btw, I never said they were not real voters. That’s just you being dumb and thinking I did. Polls are a sample size so they only provide a certain amount of probability. What I said is what counts in the end are those who vote, which is much larger than the sample. That doesn’t mean those in the sample aren’t voting. My gosh.

Close minded because I don’t believe those who revolve around your small world are the only real voters? Sounds more like you are because if it’s not something you can see out your car while driving or on your social media pages you think it’s not real.

And wow you are way more dumb than I thought. You literally don’t know how things naturally work with relationships. Normal people don’t go out looking for a bunch of friends who they have nothing in common with. Normal people seek relationships where they share interests. I was giving you credit for perhaps being normal. Clearly that was my mistake. You prefer a network of friends that share no interests with you and are completely different. And no, that’s not an invite to be my friend. I’m too normal to accept your friendship. I like people who are more in line with my values. I have no interests in racists, homophobs, and pigs who think women are lesser than men.

And just so you know, a few of my closest friends and some of my immediate family members are Trumpers. They all are much smarter than you and know how to reasonably disagree with me. But yea, they are in the minority of my friend network. They exist and I get along with them. But most who have common interests with me are not Trumpers. And that is completely normal.

I only look for trends in polls. Sometimes I dig a little deeper to try to evaluate the reliability of a poll. I think that the campaigns mostly use the polls (and even more granular non-headline polls) to refine their advertising and related strategies. That, it seems to me, is the most important use of polling.

Looks like the running average is stabilizing.  Here Rasmussen has Trump up about 4 points for the last week.

I meant more of the campaigns need to adjust to the trends. "We're not closing the gap in Those neighborhoods of This city in That state. We'd better increase the ads there." (Or maybe change the ad strategy.) "We're opening the lead over there. Let's not change anything."

While trump living in the failed-state of Venezuela sounds like an excellent destination for him, he is currently  under 2 criminal indictments and protected by Secret Service. I'm not sure how he'd pull that travel off. But I can dream.

But I doubt the Secret Service would be allowed to protect him there.
