All four of these guys are getting the debate thing down pretty well now . . .

I just want him to STFU. Romney sounds like a CEO of a multinational. The other 3 sound like politicians.

It's still early, but Romney just kicked Newt's ass on the issue of Newt saying Romney is an "anti-immigration candidate."  Round 1 Romney.  Who says only Newt can debate?

Was referring to your comment about Newt.

What's "old news" about that?

The debate just ended and I think Romney won.  Gergen and Fleisher both seem to agree.

The line of questioning suited him much better than Gingrich and he played it very, very well.

In this back-and-forth contest, he has regained the momentum.

and couldn't pick a winner. Didn't see any big moments and/or mistakes by anyone. I will say that years and years of government service by Newt showed. He is a polished speaker and can think fast on his feet.

It was really a stupid question but it was something like, "Which of the candidates' wifes would make the best First Lady". Like who cares. Why don't they ask who has the best fucking dog.

My impressions of the answers:

Ron Paul gave his standard dead pan reply with all of the poise and look of Bill Belicheck talking about a loss to the Giants on Monday night football. Santorum and Romney looked better with their answers, but standard answers, nothing special.

Gingrich said:

He had meet all the wives and thought each would make a wonderful "First Lady". He then said his wife would make a great first lady. Polished, poised, looked Presidential, really quick thinking on his feet.

Doesn't change his politic but just goes to show what a real pro can do. Now if Ron Paul or Romney was as accomplished in presentation and style there would be no contest.

As for Santorum, he got the last question of the night on some question and gave some rambling answer no one would ever remember.

I liked the "First Lady" question but only because it showed who could think quickly on their feet. It's not the sort of question that usually comes up in a presidential candidate's "Debate College" when preparing for a national debate.

after over a dozen of them so far in the last several months.  Newt no longer has the big advantage in debating that he had at the start.

Romney had the aggressive comeback lines tonight that scored well. Santorum again showed more passion than all of them. Paul is getting better but still sounds like a weasel and repeats himself more than the other three.  Gingrich did not have the juicy topics to dive into tonight or on Monday night and has lost the momentum he built in South Carolina.

Only one debate scheduled for February.  That favors Romney because there is noway he could pull off three straight good performances in a debate.
