We are all aware of the fact that ACORN signed up the same person anywhere fro 50 to 100 times. In consideration this, how many young voters are really eligible to vote?
Assuming the election officials are checking ID's like they supposed to.
their will not be a significant increase in youth voting over previous elections. I have absolutely no facts to support this statement other than my college age daughter and her ditzy sorority friends who forgot to request an absentee ballot. Re my daughter, I have threatened to withhold her Nov monthly allowance if she doesn't complete and mail the ballot. My daughter has promised to vote, but not for President, but for Proposition D. This is a local San Diego/Pacific Beach proposition that will reinstate drinking on the beach. You gotta like the young voters, if they vote, priorities.
Acorn did not sign up anyone. Did you even watch the debates? Acorn paid people to go out and register people to vote. If Acorn is guilty of anything it would be failure to censure the registrations at best.
Senators Obamas explanation went unchallenged. As did his Ayers explanation. More weak GOP propaganda. Lets try and come up with something better before you turn me into a Democrat.
Obamas weakness is his stand on Crime. Never exploited. The overall lack of intelligence and planning in this campaign is appalling. No wonder McCain cant separate himself from Bush. His choices are actually starting to make W look smart.~Felix
"Acorn did not sign up anyone. ... Acorn paid people to go out and register people to vote." That's like saying that the NSA doesn't spy on US Citizens - it is the Agents that do the spying.
Acorn did it because Acorn employed the people that did it, and Acorn did not have the controls in place to prevent their employees from doing it. The pattern of abuses nation wide implies that not only did Acorn not control their employees (or "independent contractors"), but that they may have encouraged their employees to do exactly what they did.
Absentee voters that are done by ACORN not the voter of record could be hard to sort out . Look at Ohio that had absentee votes on the same day as registraion. How much actual checking is going on to ensure that it’s one (legitimate) voter for every vote in absentee votes?
Less than 1% of Acorn registrants are bogus. Acorn labeled exactly which ones were before submitting. Do you believe that 1% of new registrations is a statistically significant number?
Wasn't Florida decided by less than 600 votes? Its like I dove hunt with a shotgun the pellets spread to kill . ACORN is doing the same and could make a difference in some states especially with absentee votes to change it by a small margin .
I agree, 600 votes can be material. Acorn registered fictitious people. That won't change the vote because these people are mythical and it was done by employees to pad their hours. Should have no impact at all on the election.
You do not know that about absentee votes . So why is the FBI investigating just because they are in the pocket of MAC and Bush is tied with it for political means like the lawyer for Obama is implying making a damn smoke screen
Second it does have controls in place. Some very good controls. Please glance at my post above. ACORN is required to turn in ALL complete registrations. It flags problem registrations for the Election Commissioners. The ones who were caught were caught because ACORN turned them in.
There is no pattern of abuse nationwide. The entire thing is a myth deliberately created by the GOP. I'd call it a dirty trick except it's more like a felony.
Sadly, I have to agree. McCain had every opportunity to win this election, and failed to make his case numerous times on a variety of issues. You are absolutely correct that Obama is wrong on crime. He doesn't just want gun control, he wants a completely disarmed society. Given that this man would be in charge of our military, how can we trust a man who believes in allowing the citzenry to be utterly defenseless? McCain never tried to make that case.
McCain had the right answer on energy too, particularly the drilling issue. Yet anytime he talked about energy policy, he got so bogged down in his answer that he utterly failed to communicate the salient point - that while gas prices soared over $4.00 a gallon, Pelosi turned the lights out on Republicans who insisted on a vote on drilling. Case closed. Democrats lose this issue. But McCain let it slip through his fingers.
This election could have, and should have, been an easy win for McCain. I am utterly astonished and deeply disappointed at the total lack of organization and common sense his campaign has shown.
Which was my original "ignorant" remark. Acorn is a victim here. They pay people cash money per registration. I dont know what the point of arguing is if they are required to turn in all registrations even fraudulent ones (I didnt know that). Thier hands are tied. A point that Im sure Obama wouldnt miss. This guy is sharp and squeaky clean.
Apparently the TER discussion board isnt the only place lacking triple digit IQ's. The GOP seems to have its fair share of double digit wonders running the current campaign.
I am a registrar. Acorn may be required to turn in all registrations, but the registrar is not required to sign any form that s/he thinks is not valid. In fact, the signing of the form by the Registrar is attesting that the they believe the information to be true and correct. So, if someone puts Micky Mouse on the form, I won't sign it. If I turn it in unsigned, the clerk's office won't process it.
It is registration forms SIGNED by the Registrar that is getting them in trouble. So your statement that "Acorn is required to turn in All complete registrations" is just a smokescreen.
I know that that is an egregious example. How about ACORN flagging the forms as doubtful or seriously doubtful. I presume you think that's just not done?
Suppose that it's the Dallas Cowboy's starting line-up, but the registrar isn't a football fan, isn't acquainted with anyone. The registrar looks at the name, on just looking at it, there's only so much a registrar can do, and I believe the statement for signing says something like "to the best of my knowledge and abilities . . ."
