So as we enter 2025 nothing seems to have changed--(if this TER board is a microcosm of the country in general.)
The left DESPISES the right--the right DESPISES the left! Every single day both sides snipe at each other on this board--every single fuc**ing day!! And I have no doubt you see this kind of back and forth sniping going on in other political forums throughout the country. Two questions: 1) Will we EVER see a move towards the center from both directions??It's always "my side is right, your side is evil/crazy!" There are super hyper partisans on this board that will never change and yes, they are on both sides. It's like (almost) no one can ever give an inch.

I think SM has greatly aggravated the healthy debate that needs to happen in a democracy. Everyone need clicks and likes on their posts online nowadays. Dems and Reps used to be rivals...but now they are bitter enemies. I think part of it allows each sides fringe to have a gigantic microphone and neither side pushes back on their crazies like they should.

Sadly, I dont see it getting better anytime soon, if ever. Look at the Right...Trump has brainwashed many of them into thinking he can do no wrong. Look at the Left...many key people would rather shut up and keep quiet than stand up to a person who was clearly cognitively impaired.

The rabid adherents on the far ends of the spectrum are lost causes, but I think it's very possible the moderates from both parties will find some common ground. The wild card is the Media, because they seem to only parrot the extremes on both sides. There is little, if any, media speaking for the moderate middle.

Recall Fox News lost a $787 million dollar lawsuit for slandering Dominion Voting Systems, claiming their machines fixed the 2020 election. The lawsuit was grossly under-reported by the network, since they didn't want to embarrass themselves or their owner Rupert Murdoch. The $1.6 billion lawsuit brought by Smartmatic is still outstanding although Newsmax did reach a settlement with them.
