Unless your ter name is the same as on your driver's liscence, you are using an alias.

your board id is tied to your identity in a very real way when you create your account.

if you use your board id when making appointments or at meet/greets then you further tie your board id to your real identity. there are dozens of people locally who know exactly who i am and where i live by this board id. Granted there are more ladies then men lol.

using an alias rather than your board id has no good purpose. rather 90% of the time its used either to troll or by a provider to bash on another one. In the rare cases when its not its still a cowards way to do business.

there is a reason long time posters mostly eschew using an alias of an alias as by and large no one cares what they think anyhow.
If you dont value your own opinion enough to tie it too a board id then why should i care what you think?

if you have something to say then be man enough to say it using your actual board id or shut the hell up.

The way I see it the term alias AS USED on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate.
For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" and any other name you use is an alias
As for me, I suppose,technically,  you could say I  have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family menbers to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as

FatherFollowme
EasterFollowmeBunny
PopeFollowmeLXIX
DrFollowmeOBGYN
FollowmeEsq
RabbiFollowme
Followmeopolis
to name just a few of my family (there are many, many others )
So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real  members of the followme family.
To the best of my knowledge they do behave themselves.....sort of....I hope
