TER Guidelinse For Using an Alias.....

I was searching for a lunch time appointment and came across a review that specifically stated that the girl provided BBFS to completion. It was my understanding that if a review explicitly stated the girl provided BBFS then the review was not approved. This review could be a complete fake but my bigger concern is that it actually got posted.

I write very few reviews and don't mind paying my monthly fee but what is that fee worth if these reviews get though. If I am under a incorrect assumption about the review process then please someone enlighten me.

BTW I was very nicely asked to stop using this alias but sorry ummmbada I use it specifically for posts like this. I am not ummmbada so please do not PM him regarding posts from this alias.

And  yes - this is the reason we allow alias.  In fact there are several good reasons -- keep posting

Here are NINE very acceptable reasons for the use of an alias.

Use of topical humor when the alias enhances the humor

The creation of a character(literary license) to be used in an informative, fun, innocuously sarcastic, philanthropic, as well as topical way.

Anonymity for when regional or associational sensitivities may be of concern, particularly when there are members out there who will harass you on the boards when you disagree strongly with them.

Innocuous playing of "devils advocate" in a discussion or debate where one wishes to not be further/future aligned with one faction or the other.  If you look at the GD Board, there are providers who have flat out stated that they won't see someone based on some of their posts.  Why would any guy take the chance.

Avoidance of suffering political fallout for a comment that may have been wrongly construed in a possibly volatile discussion.  Some of these regular posters are hyper-sensitive, and also don't read the whole post before going ballistic.

Posting investigative reports, meet & greet announcements, helpful advice, or other similar types of useful information where the use of a user-name could prove problematic or open the poster up to incessant PM's and questions.

Concerns in revealing your review history.  This is a big one when you are posting about a particular provider that you are not going to name. In those situations, you open ALL of your reviewed providers to the public guessing who you are talking about.  It's not fair to the others.

Ability to contribute where you would otherwise feel embarrassed to speak candidly.  Some are just too shy, but will post under an alias.

To avoid a google search turning up your review history.  Some of these guys only post in alias for this reason.

The review was worded like a gushing 9/10 review but at the same time it talked about how she was his ATF that called it off so in essence it looks to be a hit piece. For that reason I didn't include the link to the review as that could have irrevocably harmed this providers career... or it could have gotten her a bucket load of new business. Depends on who you ask I guess.

There was a lady who posted a question about a problem client she did not have time to see. She posted that he got pissed off at her and told her he was going to post a poor review of her. Sure enough a few days later here is the scathing review of the lady ripping her to shreds and telling everyone how she begged for BBFS and even BB Greek. He basically told of a number of other unsafe acts that she wanted to do, but you could tell from the post it was a fake even if she hadn't talked about before he posted the review. I believe that post was up for 3 days before it got pulled, but the fact that it was allowed to be posted is beyond me.

we as providers are guilty until proven innocent..... post remains for all to see until  TER decides what to do.....  just a fact........took 10 days to remove  my last fake review  go figure......I had to contact my reviewer and ask the questions  who , where  when he saw me and he had no answers I was not even  in the city  but TER made me do the leg work

I hear ya. She got a head start on the legwork on that review, and I am sure that the fact there BBFS  described made it easier for her to get it pulled. Crazy that it STILL took her 3 days to get it pulled though. It should have never been posted in the first place.

I totally understand the benefits of using an alias. It just can be confusing to others when someone's alias is really close to my real handle. But, since ummmwtf clarified at the end. I guess that's ok now.
