A dear friend sent me an e-mail this morning. Knowing the devestation the Tsunami caused affected her emotions last week, I thought i'd share it with you and ask for your help. We are going to have a fund raiser like the one we had for Toy's for Tots around x-mas. This one will be held on Thursday evening Jan. 27th if possible. We will offer a few different organizations for you to choose where your donation will go to. MoneyOrders, Checks, Cash, whatever will be accepted. Anyone interested in attending please send me your e-mail addy so I can send you an evite. All are invited even you people that dislike me, it's a great cause and a chance to meet our community face to face. I Hope most of the valleys providers will attend and donate to this cause. If you ladies post enough interest, this will be hugh. Heres my e-mail.........

Hi Sweetie,

I have spent so much time doing research on the terrible damage that Tsunami has caused.  After waking up much to early this morning I have spent the last few hours in tears. I can't read another article because my heart is breaking.  The one that really had me messed up with hearing of a woman having her three year old daughter ripped away from her. As a mother and just a human being it really messed with my psyche.
I am compelled and I don't know what to do.  I have so little to offer myself. However, being so compelled I will not rest until I at least make an attempt at something.  We here for the most part feel safe and secure but in the distance so many men, women and children are without. I guess I just can't get that out of my mind.
Christmas is over which usually means that many people feel GIVED out. I don't!  In the next few days I am going to find a location which will support those willing to donate.  Clothes, canned food. toys (many children have been orphaned) and money if possible.
I am hoping that in the next week or two we can gather up our local friends to help out with this.  A little effort on our part can go a long way in helping those that we don't know, yet people who are suffering.
I realize that nothing is really ever going to make it right again for these survivors.  One thing I did learn and that I hold onto is the remarkable kindness that people had when I lost the father of my children in March.  People had shown me that there is still hope.  I was so grief stricken that I didn't even want to go on, life was a struggle and many tried to pick me up. In having experienced the best of human nature under the worst of circumstances, I have learned the value of it.
You and I were going to get together for lunch on Saturday.  I was wondering if there was a possibility that we could exchange some ideas on gathering our friends together to aid in some relief for the victims? There is always power in numbers and I do believe that a little effort goes a long way.
Give me a call and let me know. Thank you Danny!

Danny the Penthouse Club will be available for this fundraiser.  I'll get it set up for everyone.  A great cause and I concur and hope that all hobbyist and providers alike come out for this event.  I agree with your idea that each individual can determine where they would like their donation to go in terms of the many agencies that are attempting to help those that were affected by this terrible tragedy.  Please add my name to the evite list.  your doing a wonderful thing.

Count me in for support destined to a deserving and very much needed recovery effort for those so severely impacted. Great idea.

Don't know yet if I can make the event but I will sure try.
People are people, on the other side of the world, different language, customs, culture  doesn't matter.  The scope of the disaster is  horrible.  These folks have lost their children, families,  friends and thier entire economic system.    I hope that this event gains  support as the cause is just and the victims are so in need of help.  Atta boy Danny .

AZMystique will definitley be there to help out. Good Job Danny!

While I too feel for the people on the other side of the world, lets not forget they have raised more money than they dan ever spend wisely on this disaster.

PLEASE!!! Remember we have 100's of people in our own state out of home because of the recent stoms here. KEEP YOUR CHARITY AT HOME FIRST. The people in Northern Arizona are suffering, and it will get MUCH worse in the next couple of weeks.

Coyote..

I don't recall hearing about all of the storms in Arizona taking away children from their parents..or children being orphaned..or a wife dying right in front of her husbands eyes.  Although I support any charity or cause that goes to good, I would NEVER undermine the importance of this one!!! Earth is our home..so indeed that is where the charity shall go. As far as the way they spend money, I can only hope that it would go to the good of the people, it is a risk I am willig to take.

Come to the fund raiser and i'll donate to the charity of your choice along with yours.

I appreciate  coyotefan2 posting his  views and  in the  truest of our traditions suport his right to a dissenting  opinion.
In the Tsunami more people were  killed than actually live in all of  Coconino  County.  The surviviors are in a poor and  remote part of  the world were just  reaching the area is a monumental task.   Those that survivied now deal with  a loss we are hard pressed to imagine.   Food, water, shelter, gone.
Children and families, the joy and hope of the future, gone.
The money raised  so far  will only start the process of  putting this back together.  As far as spending  wisely there can never be guarantees on this but as  country how can we ever fault anyone for not spending wisely!
So my friend your point is taken, mine is just different   DanorDanny has made a fine offer of compromise. If not there  then help where your heart is.

It is not a matter of numbers. Humans are overwhelmed by numbers. The disaster in Asia is mind boggling, but so is the world response. Do you know that the 9/11 fund still has not even had a dent placed in it. They raise so much money that they do not have anyplace to spend it. The tsunami fund is over $4,000,000,000. Look at that number. It is more than the GNP of most countries. They could fly every survivor out of the region and put them all up in a 5 star hotel for that kind of money.

There are many fine charities that can no longer raise money because everyone is donating here. Again, that is what happened with the 9/11 disaster. All this money cannot be spent. Remember, they have raised $4,000,000,000. With all that money they cannot even get fresh water to the victims. SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!
