but thats a simple question. Sign me up for door #2. The deciding factors being twofold. 1st the queen is defined as gorgeous....2nd I'm a man. Ding Ding Ding....

Now had the woman in question been Rosanne Barr you'd have me running for door #1. I readily admit I'm a man (and therefor an Asshole). However, I'm not a desperate asshole:).....

Very Hypothetical, since each soldier made a choice.  I would choose to be the second if you are the queen.

A commodity is something that you need and in most cases take for granted.  The day we take the ladies as commodities will be a sad day.  When I take the time and effort to select and request,(note the request) a date with a special lady, that is pretty much it.  If events occur that force the date to fall apart I take a deep breath say what is..is and have a nice glass of wine.  To simply replace one lady with another simply is insulting to her and to you.  So please never treat the ladies as commodities, that will be a sad day for the hobbiest.....My 2 cents

ladies in this business do not have the luxury that you described.  If you are 400+ and have smelly, sweaty pits, and garlic breath, the best ladies will treat you the same as if you looked like Brad Pitt.

I fall a bit closer to the Brad Pitt side of the equation then the Rosanne Barr equivalent...at least by a percentage point of two:).

As for your observation I agree completely. I'm fortunate to count a few of the ladies as friends and am always amazed at their compassion and understanding with all of us.....

The soldier was, I presume, a Roman (and thus capable of even considering the offer, because Egyptians considered their royalty to be gods, and would never think of sex with them.)  Thus, the first soldier displayed loyalty to his Caesar by not sleeping with his fiancee.

I would hope, in the face of a temptation that pits lust against loyalty (or fidelity), that I would choose the latter.  I certainly admire the first soldier.

Since the first soldier is likely to be promoted for his gesture and the second instantly put to death for defiling the queen, this is simply an example of the little head and the big head in a duel of wills.  A good lesson for all who routinely search the backpage in search of satisfaction.

Actually the 1st soldier got shipped to the upper cataracts (egyptian equivalent of the alution islands) and the second got promoted to head of "household security":).

Couple points.

1200 BC was way before Ceasers time. It's almost the time of Ramases the Great.

HBO's "Rome" was interesting this week, I know after his death doubt was cast on Ceaser's Son's parentage. Of course if half the rumor's of Cleopatra were true it would be no suprise. and if half the ones of Ceaser were true (Ever Lady's man, every mans woman) would he have really cared as long as it stayed quiet?

Mya if you were the queen I would definately be the second soldier. You must be feeling better. It is great to see you back on the board.

Interesting scenario.  Lust & passion versus sense and morals.  Having just watched the episode from the HBO series "Rome", I can easily picture the scene in my head.  Assuming it went down similar to the scene on TV, I couldn't have forfeited my pride so easy and would have left her there with her cheap offer. However, had she seduced me and let me hold onto my pride, I might have been hers for the moment and thereafter.

MYA, I think I know where your post is comming from and it is too bad that some people do not show the compassion and kindness that you have shown. The point can go both ways also. It is important for both parties to feel that the experience is more than just an "exchange". I would love to think that the experience is a little something more than a business transaction, that when you are looking at me you see me, not the wall behind me and the color you want to paint it ..lol. But alas, there are mean hearted, selfish people on both sides of this and I know someday they will get there rewards. For my side I would like to see a complete Mr Wiggley failure right when they need it most:)

Respect is of paramount importance.  Men should always extend respect to a Lady in deference to her gender in any type of scenario.  Only after demonstrating she is undeserving of your respect should any appropriate action be taken.  Any man, who would treat a Lady as an article of trade and then make himself vulnerable to retaliation by her, should rethink his position and deserves to lose his cherished vulnerable body part.  It would be biting satire should he walk away unscaved after such an exchange.  Call me old fashioned but a Lady is a Lady regardless of her profession.

I'd be whatever soldier you want me to be, Baby, cuz I'm the Lovemaster!  That's right, just wait til you feel my hands Roman all over your body.  Oh yeah.  I'll show you my Collosemen.  Mmmmm.  I'd love to see how Titus you are, and show you how Constantine I can be!  When I'm done with you, Baby, I'll be a glad-he-ate-her!  Uh huh.  You'll be calling me Julius Please-her, Baby, cuz I'm the Lovemaster.

Stand up comedian. First time I recall hearing the lovemaster routine was back in 2001.

Now, of course if you are Craig, well then you might want to pick a less recognizable handle :-)

See, I knew I got sidetracked..........

The 20-something year old marine I once was would have been taking off clothes before the brain registered the question.

The 40 year old proffesional, with a 14 yo Son and in a commited relationship, I'd pass.
