in high school? Silly question, I know but I thought it'd be an interesting off-topic discussion to get conversation started!

So, were you a nerd? a geek? a jock? slut? redneck? 'wigger'? white trash? rich, snobby kid? goth? straight A popular student? teacher's pet?

Just thought it'd be a fun topic. I'll go first:

I was a teacher's pet with a reputation as a slut that I didn't earn (left catholic school for public school in 8th grade..all the boys liked me and I liked the boys, but never slept with any of them), I bargained with my teachers my senior year to come in the last week of the six weeks, take the major tests and pass with an A or a B, which I would've easily made being in school. :) I was definitely NOT the popular girl. Was a cheerleader for a very brief moment in ninth grade, but was far more serious about  my gymnastics.

Okay...your turn!

I grew up in a small resort town Where all we had to do was Party or Have Sex, or be a Book worm.

I was (and still sorta am) a Tomboy, I rode Motorcycles and Go Carts Etc.. etc...

I played School Sports Like VolleyBall and Softball, and Tennis. I was on Student Council 7-10th Grade.

THEN I really Started Developing....

I actually started having Sex in JR High around 8th grade, but starting around 10th Grade I really became a School Slut.

It was a Blessing in disguise when I had to leave town however my legend followed me.  I still carried pretty good Grades, but I was sorta like the Neutral person, cause I was able to get along with Everyone, but yet I was also sleeping with everyones boyfriends.

I would consider myself the School Slut/ Everyones friend

I only had 2 1/2 credits at the end of my sophomore year, not because I wasn't smart, my parents were strict with me being the oldest of 4 and being a girl...I just thought ditching and smoking pot was more fun...But I got things together went to summer school and took a correspondence course and graduated on time..Worked like hell but I made my parents proud as I was for what I did.

Went to the same high school as Alice Cooper....he graduated before me though....

Total nerd. (Thank God that's completely changed!)  Proof:  Drum Major of the Band, Debate Team, Student Government, leader of the Bible Club, and fouding member of both the Star Trek Club and Joe Dougherty (a local weatherman) Fan Club.  Won the "Goodiest Two Shoes" award at the senior banquet.  I also was a card-carrying (literally) member of the AV Clubs of America.  (I could field strip a jam from a Bell&Howell 35mm film projector in total darkness, in less than 60 seconds.)  Virgin until 19...sure wish I'd met one of you ladies back then!

I was known in high school as "Disco Don". I used to love disco (still do somewhat) & dressed the part. I don't know if any of you remember "Angel Flight" pants. They were tight around the butt & really flaired out at the bottom. Ahhhhhhh good times, lmmfao.

Except for Senior year I was in theatre big time.

Small town, poor part of the country. I was a chameleon.  Class clown, jock, straight A student, class president, hung with all cliques,  farmers, jocks, stoners, preppies, geeks, rebels, bandos etc. Look was  different, big hair,  sideburns, overweight sort of the heavy Elvis look. LOL  Steady girlfriend but never sex.
Thanks Megan for a great idea for a thread.

hmmmmm... Megan, you're really jogging my memory! :-)  i was, for the most part, an underacheiver when it came to grades.  played sports (football, baseball, track, basketball, golf).  if it used a ball, I wanted to try it.  I was athletic.  never great at any one thing, but was good to very good at most anything I ever tried to do.  was pretty much an outcast from the popular cliques (i didn't smoke, didn't drink, didn't do drugs, wasn't a criminal) although i was friends with almost everyone.  had one steady girl through high school but baseball was my true love.  i was invited to a workout camp (along with several others from my area) with the phillies but wasn't drafted, though our shortstop was selected by the Yankees. that was one of my bigger disappointments (not that our shortstop was.. but that I wasn't). all in all a pretty mundane life gtowing up back in Delaware.

I went to an all girls catholic school until my junior year in high school. I was quiet and shy, a major bookworm and an all around good catholic girl. I was a cheerleader freshman and sophmore year, Junior and senior year at public school I was even more shy and even more of a bookworm but discovered photography and joined the school paper (editor, photographer), I graduated with a 3.9 gpa, NO SEX..no self respecting catholic girl would, lol. I was quiet and shy until I got to college (full ride journalism and art scholarship to Pen State), I came out of my shell when I got to college, then got pregnant and dropped out lol...with every action come a reaction :P

I was a straight A student and athlete also involved in music and art.  So I had a wide verity of interests and friends.  I was somewhat lazy regarding the structured methods of education so I wasn’t the Teacher pet.  But they didn’t hassle me because they knew I knew what I was talking about.  For the must part I avoided trouble but wasn’t strictly straight laced.  Like [most: strike that] all teenage boys I lusted for everything in a skirt.  But I was always the gentleman and the girls liked that, so the guys called me “Romeo”.  LOL  They would always want me to set them up with someone or another.  Worked my ass off the first three years because I was in an accelerated program but as senior I don’t think I had one serious class on my schedule.

That was the school nickname for kids into speech and drama (not sure where that came from).

I was an example showing that there is no such thing as an average kid.

I was:
The school's fat kid.
The class intellectual.
Captain of the debate team.
Equipment manager of the football and basketball teams.
And I'm sure the last member of PCHS's class of 81 (and probably ASU's class of 85) to loose his/her virginity, but I'm working on catching up in that department for years.

Thanks for the memories Megan.

but not a southern Rebel.  Got caught smoking in the parking lot, given a week of work around the school, spent the whole week cleaning blinds in Homemaking Class - They did know I could look down into the dressing rooms.  Some of the girls did, and they actually performed.  Blew up a toilet and a mock engine with cherry bombs.  Drank beer during the lunch period.  One Teacher actually said he would give me a "C" if I did not attend class, cut 5th period all year.  I would have been a Fonzi, except he had not been invented yet.  Drove a big ass 53 Buick Skylark convertable, had my pick of girls and voted best looking Senior boy (did I need to ad that). lol

Grew up on the streets of D.C. Had a single two job working mom trying to raise a boy and my sister who was 5 years older and never around. That's why I had to learn to cook and do things for myself.

Played electric bass. Hair down to my butt. Goatee. Skinny from being on the basketball team.

And smart enough to know I needed to graduate early and book smart enough to do it in 3 years. Teachers liked me because I would help them with projects. Would paint murals for them. Actually got to teach a history class my last semester to ESOL students which was kinda strange looking back at that.

Still have two good friends from back there I see twice a year. We are more than family without being related. Hung out with everyone - wouldn't say I was popular, but everyone knew me. Worked since 2nd grade - in High School I worked building swimming pools. Would pay for my weekends up to the beach.

Went right into college. Then technical school. I hate school but love to learn it seems. Was always good with tinkering. Opening things. Fixing things.

Had a Brazilian girlfriend for 3 years and never looked at another girl, and the sex and intamacy, well it has never been matched, but I keep looking...

But high school is not where I lost my innocence and formed who I am today. That happened in the sixth grade and junior high. And those stories are for another day.

Those with kids, tuck them in. Keep them safe. Give them lots of love and affection. And let them live as children as long as they can. The events that create their memories will guide who they become.

Peace,

Pretty good student, mostly A's, some B's.  However, I was raised by teachers; both Grandmothers, Mother and older sister, so, learning was a way of life.  Never saw a C until 2nd year in college.  Social life in HS is easy to explain and most will understand this, I was in the Band (woodwinds, mainly Sax).  However, I experienced a mind boggling event as the summer before my Senior year I was hired by a very popular local Rock Band.  This was in the late 60's, they had been a Beatles cover band but needed to expand their repertoire so I got hired.  They said that I wasn't the best Sax guy that they interviewed, but, I also played keyboard, and (this was important in the 60's scene) I had long hair.  As fate would have it the Band was hired by my highschool to play the Homecoming dance.  So, in virtually one night I went from band geek nerd to my highschools rising "rock star"(was even named "Most Talented" in that year's Senior Superlatives).  Now, the thing is, I was still the "band geek" but at this early age I came to understand one of the meanings of a paradigm shift.  Very weird occurance.
By the way, the band had been together two years before they hired me and we stayed together for six years.  Great, Great! way to pay for college.  I went to the University of Oklahoma on a band scholarship but, remember, this was the 60's, they wanted me to cut my hair.  Well, their $50 a month vs. the 3 to 500 a month that I was making in the band made for an easy decision - "Goodbye Scholarship"! Sold my soul for Rock & Roll and got a degree in the process.

Wow, high school, now that was a long time ago. I guess I was a nerd; Honors classes gpa 4.2 top ten, marching band. Only sad part was that I never had a girl throughout high school, unless bumping into one accidently counts, lol. I guess I was just too shy to try back then.

OK, this is a good post.  So I couldn't resist.  I considered myself to be very goofy and skinny looking.  I lived on a farm 20 miles out of town and the only way I could get to town for the games was to be a baton twirler (because my mom was), otherwise there would not have been the effort or any good reasons for the extra travel to town.  I came from extremely meager beginnings.  I designed and made the majorette costumes.  I was not popular or accepted by the jocks, so hung out with the farmers, stoners and nerds with the marching band.  Now, I check out my photos and think, DAMN, I was HOT!  The guys didn't start flirting with me until I was a senior but I was so painfully shy, I would freeze when someone came on to me.  I only had one boob for the first two years of high school.  That was really a big issue when I did kiss someone and they would try to cop a feel. I also was embarrassed to have the ones that were willing to drive so far to pick me up for a date.  I wished I was trailer trash, I lived in a quansit hut!  I think I can count on one hand the number of dates I went on in high school.  It was such of an awkward time.  I love going to my reunions though.  I tease the hell out of those guys now........  LOL
