As you begin to put 2008 away and prepare to do your tax return remember a few important things:

1.  You now MUST have a receipt for any donation you gave in order to claim it
2.  Have your mileage for charity and medical trips as they are tax deductable - different rates and keeping a log is best.  But if didn't keep one then use mapquest and print out to calculate mileage to doctors, charity, etc. = then can match to receipts for how many times.
3.  If you received the stimulus package - know your dollar amount as you will have to put it on the return this year.  If not, then you will get credit for not getting it.

Hope you all saved your receipts, kept your mileage logs and have a fabulous, prosperous, healthy and happy new year.

(The accountant in me came out and had to post this reminders...hope you don't mind.)

Re #3 above:  And, if you did NOT receive the stimulus package, now that we're in a new year you're authorized to visit Misty to receive her own special stimulus package -- hobbyist version.  It's much more satisfying than anything provided by Congress.  See IRS Pub 69-BJ.
