I condensed the email below. __________________________________________________________________________________________________

I am sorry to deliver such bad news today......

Calista Rae has passed away.

Calista's best friend for many years was notified by Calista's mom a few days ago about this. I am not going to go into details, but she has passed away, and left behind two young children.

Let's all pray for her two children.  They lost a very loving mother, and we ALL lost a very good friend.

There has been a memorial fund started for the funeral arrangements, as well as a fund for her two children by her family.  If you are interested in donating towards this fund please contact me, and I will forward the information on to you.

Again, lets all pray for Calista Rae's family.

_________________________________________________

As I said I’m in shock. She was so young and a good friend. I will miss her.

PM me if you are interested in helping and I’ll send you the information as so as I get it.

Do you know the circumstances of her passing?

1. Was this an email in response to an inquiry, or just sent to you out of the blue, and if the latter, do you know why it was sent to you and by whom?

2. Has there been any additional information provided that you can share?  Can you answer the questions asked above?

Before starting the flames, let me invite you to search this board's archives for the name Nico Veneta, whose death was announced and mourned on both the Phoenix and Vegas boards in January of 07, followed by Nico arising from the dead and announcing a special in January of 08.  So, color my cynical, but I'd like to know if it was the person who worked as Calista who passed, or has that person simply decided to kill Calista, the persona.

I got the email from a reputable provider in Tucson and did some research before I posted this. She did have reviews on the Tucson review board.

But now I’m getting some different stories and will get to the bottom of the email I got.

As soon as I get all the info I need on this I’ll post all the names involved in this scam.

I’m sorry if I upset anybody with this news and I should know better.

I remember that and I thought that was bullshit she did that and she should have been banned. There are better ways to start over and pronouncing you're dead is totally f***ed-up and unforgivable.

Terri

Ps I do hope calista is ok and not a scam

are these people picking on me and Alexia?

I am so APPALLED about this. Alexia just called me this morning and

checked my emails in almost a week.  As you know, I am not seeing very
many people these days....BECAUSE of BS like this.

I just heard about all of this.  I am APPALLED that soneone would do this to me.  I am not dead.  AND I DID NOT do this.  I have not had access to internet.  WHY would anyone be this mean....THIS IS JUST NOT RIGHT!!!!  Alexia and I have been getting alot of hate emails these past few months.  I don't know why?

Anyhow...I am okay.  Sorry that you were lied to....and that someone was this mean to do this to those who care about me.

There are some REAL mean people out there.  The PERSON that did this is well....you already know what I am thinking!!!!!

Turns out this was a sick joke pulled off by someone who has been harassing Cilista and another Tucson provider for several months. I’m going to have someone check the IP address so I can find out who send it or can anyone here tell me how to check it.

But I wonder how did they get our email address. I wasn’t the only one that received this email.

I’m sorry if I upset anyone with my post and will make sure I do my homework before I post anything like this again.

I’m sure if some one is computer savvy they get any info they want off your computer.

Can anyone answer her question?

i'm not a PC pro but i think if someone put's spy software on your PC, they would have to have enough access to it to see where you went.

its more likely someone knows your password, or guessed your password or broke into your email account someway.  this is why i don't like emailing with providers because even if the email is deleted, it can be recalled.  i like to use the throw away cell phones you can pay cash for.

YES, Spyware can covertly collect, and relay, info to a third party from your hard drive.

It's quite possible that someone could have emailed you a innocent looking email that contained some kind of Malware (virus, trojan, spyware, etc) that enabled them to get information, like your address book, from your computer.

If you do not have top of the line, and CURRENT, spyware protection, I'd suggest that you get some quickly.

I don't know you, but I'm happy to hear that you are alive and well.Yes they can load a virus through email. If you have opened an email from someone you didn't know it could have had a virus attached to it for this purpose. If you don't have a virus protection software like Norton anti-virus or PCTools software that has options to check your email messages automatically, you are opening yourself up for this type of problems.

Sounds like you might have been hacked.  Would need to know more details to figure out what happened.  Yes, this can happen through email.  How secure is your system.

I am certainly not a computer expert but have read of cases where if, someone visited you and had access to your computer, they could do something that could allow them to access your computer offsite.  Someone that is much more of an expert than me could probably answer it better.

spyware is a possibility but it is regrettably not the only possibility.

your first step is to take measures to assure that there is no spyware on your computer and assure that you have physical control of it at all times: passwords and encrypted files for sensitive lists, etc. do nnot share the use of the computer with ANYONE.

another possibility is that the "prankster" has a friend on the inside of one of large e-mail houses. i know of a case where a jealous, possessive, BF who worked at a major SW company kept tabs on his free spirited GF's e-mails easily by getting getting a friend of his in the right department to plant a little piece of code on the e-mail servers. i found out about it because i hung with both.

this last bit is of course extremely rare and unlikely. the forensics would be difficult. one would need to collate patterns of IP addresses and routing information among callistarae, the recipients of the prank e-mails, and so forth.

so check for the spyware first. if that comes up clean (as it should if you have decent security!) then you have a big job on your hands. if wire fraud is involved (donations!) you might have to talk to the feds to get the right expertise brought to bear. just talking to one e-mail host might not cut it.

BTW i am not volunteering anything more than this post.

My computer guru uses this combined with the cachecleaner program to keep my computer bug free.

You can download them for free and use them regularly be sure to run the cachecleaner first then superantispyware to keep your machines bug free.

since 85003 reviewed calista, anyone who knows his email address couldve sent that letter and judging from the # of reviews he's posted, that's alot of girls who know his email address.

the more people who received the letter, the more that list would be narrowed down.

but looking at the email in question, i didnt see any sign of an email account hack, virus or spyware
