Cards' assistant R. Anderson arrested for soliciting prostitution

PHOENIX -- Former NFL running back Richie Anderson, now an assistant coach with the Arizona Cardinals, was arrested during a Phoenix police anti-prostitution operation.
Anderson, 35, was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday for soliciting prostitution at about 9:30 p.m., Sgt. Andy Hill said. The department's vice unit was conducting an undercover sting operation in south Phoenix when Anderson allegedly solicited an officer posing as a prostitute.
Ken Whisenhunt, the Cardinals new head coach, hired Anderson as wide receivers coach in January. He played 13 seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys. He was a 2000 Pro Bowl selection while with the Jets and holds the team record for receptions by a running back at 305.
He retired as a player after the 2005 season and spent 2006 as an assistant wide receivers and tight end coach with the Jets.
Cardinals officials said they planned to release a statement on Anderson's arrest.
When I first saw the story, my first thought was Coach Anderson pulling up to a girl on the side of the street. However hearing that is was a "customer apprehension" program to bust hobbyist with the Pointe South Mountain as the staginf area has me a little more than curious. Does anyone have word on who or where Richie got the girl's number? An ad from somewhere? Richie probably does a little better than myself financially and thus has the means to be an active TER hobbyist or a regular with a legitimate agency in town. My point is, depending on who and where Richie got his info, this could have happened to any hobbyist.
Many years ago, I had a friend who was a bartender at the Buttes, and we used to go down there every so often and drink like we were big shots from out of town-you know, fun and games.
There was a very attractive lady sitting alone at the bar one evening, and more than one guy chatted her up while we were there. On a refill run she and I got into conversation and she made it clear she was "working" rather than just visiting.
She tried more than once with our conversation to steer it in a more blatant direction, but as I wasn't looking to hobby that night, and am not stupid, no incriminating conversation happened and I moved on.
My bartender friend pulled me aside on my way to the bathroom and informed me to watch out for that one, she was bait for a sting. They'd plant a girl in the bar and then wait in her room as she ropes em in and brings em back to the room to get busted.
Which is funny, as I had a friend get pinched that same way in Atlantic City about 5 years ago.
I don't know the details of this coach's particular situation, but I be he was a guy new to town (only been here a month), got approached by a beautiful woman, the conversation turned to commerce, he screwed up and got pinched.
Maybe, maybe not...but it wouldn't surprise me.
Otherwise, it's just rotten luck for a guy who didn't know the lay of the land.
