you are going to upgrade from? I have lost or misplaced my phone and the battery is dead, so I can't call it and of course no one has reported it to t-mobile.

I will buy it...I'm not looking for a free one!!!

This will be the 2nd one in about 8 months (the other one was stolen)

Not sure if any phone from another service will work with t-mobile???

Also if I have to go and get a new one...

anyone have suggestions of a particular phone that you're really happy with.

I appreciate any suggestions or help!

Terri, if you are beyond your contract period and therefore penalties, I suggest starting over with the best plan for your current needs. That way you should have free and discounted phone options.

I travel so I like Sprint for quality reception country wide. A friend really likes her Verizon service.

I think you'll have to find a phone that was on the t-mobile network. As far as I know, the phones are programmed for a specific network.  I do know that its possible to have them reprogrammed, but not sure of the cost. I've got motorola e815 that's just collecting dust but it was on the verizon network.
As far as recommendations, I've not become a happy member of the crackberry club.  can't imagine life without my blackberry.  Works fine as a phone, but with the added convenience of having access to your email anywhere you go as well.

Terri,

You can get a Nokia 6103 set for T-Mobile on ebay for about $65 in like-new condition.  You will need to buy a sim card separately, but that should be a few bucks.  The 6103 is a great phone.
