Hello Sheika! Me too... kinda.

As many know, I've been convalescing for the past two months.  So, I've been more of a quiet (sometimes) observer than a particpant as of late.

That being said, I've been fascinated with the political atmosphere and the recent events affecting our great state and, of course, our not-so-secret little subculture.  Between various groups, forums, and the MCSO website, I've been able to glean very little but what our media deigns necessary.  There is also a blog said to be penned by the spouse of one of the infamously prosecuted (and/or persecuted) that I've checked into from time to time.

I find that rather than concerning myself with the details of the legal matters (though the information is out there if you search for it), I'm more interested in how that event and the fallout has affected the community.

Security is being stepped up on all fronts.  Not only are LE officials displaying increased awareness, but providers are tightening screening, and even dear Martha next door is peeking out her window a little more often, having read that there was a prostitution ring operating in the same neighborhood as that nice lady from her bible class.  Hobbyists are investing in untraceable cell phones and covering paper trails.  For some, it has been much messier than others.

'The Girlfriend Experience' has come to represent the same distinction between making love and f*cking.  GFE vs. Escort.  Insinuating that there's an additional level of intimacy not found in the typical 'escort' market.  (And not necessarily of the 'physically intimate' variety.)  But one has to wonder with our comfort and routine being rocked whether the 'GFE' is at risk with currently unestablished relationships.

It's a time when indies are treasuring their 'regulars' (one only needs to look at the amount of repeat reviews to see...) and hobbyists are (for the most part) sticking to their ATFs or established gals.  (With the exception being the demographic risking CL for a decent deal to help them out during the recession.)

Times, they are a-changin'.

Only we as a community can decide which way our board will go and whether we decide to keep our heads in the sand or whether we opt to speak up and speak out.

I appreciate that the Sheika is willing to pipe up where most are too nervous or confused to.  Perhaps it will be the catalyst for a more active board.  (It's still not illegal to be a member of TER and it's still not illegal to exercise free speech, so I hope we take advantage of that while we still can.)

Namaste.

Since the bust in August, the TER Phoenix board has gotten so unbelievably bland that the Sheika finds it difficult to get inspired to post.

Awhile back, a fellow Phoenix board contributor, Marikod, actually asked the Sheika to comment on a post concerning the history of using the GFE as a promotional and advertising technique to sell sex. This was an interesting and intiguing question, but one I am sure was motivated by the dearth of stimulating activity on the Phoenix board.

If I'm not mistaken, Txtoast answered Marikod.

As might be expected, Txtoast’s answer was a bit trite and inadequate. His answer was far too erudite and business like. It was unilateral and one dimensional in the since that it only represented the clients perspective. His answer lacked passion. It was an uniformed and very unrealistic overview about the business of escorting.

The last rousing thread on the Phoenix board was one in which we explored and clarified some of the legal intricacies surrounding RICO violations and the MANN act. I would have liked to explore tax fraud and the IRS too. The average client is incredibly naive about the detrimental affects these legalities--and the leverage they create--have on the lives of ladies who sell sex... The well being of ladies IS the Sheika’s passion.

Anyway,,,sorry I'm rambling.

The reason why I'm writing this is: I would like to  know if anybody has heard anything new about the Nichta bust, i.e. who’s in jail; who’s out on bail; who's been compromised? Do you know of any clients or ladies who've been questioned but not arrested, etc.? Have any spouses been contacted? Does anyone know, who is representing who? The Sheika is in the mood for some really good gossip, so anything at all would be appreciated.

I enjoy all your e-mails

Peace and love

on the General Discussion Board for championing the GFE-

The whole GFE thing is pathetic, sad, and ridiculous IMHO.

so I kind of crawled into a hole and assumed the fetal position as I considered whether I was sad, pathetic, or ridiculous, or maybe he meant all three.

Because while John was widely blasted in turn by many members of the "sorry lot" of GFE champions, there was some truth in what he said.

Actually what I literally asked was whether the GFE concept could be traced to a particular lady and Texas Toast was able to trace it back further than anyone on the GD Board. But the discussion on the GD turned into a discussion of the merits of the GFE instead of the origin which led to John's post.

So I'm with you - time for some new issues/gossip that hopefully will not bite me in the ass like this one did.
