Many of you thanked me for bringing up that the Pink Pony closed, so I am bringing that it looks like another Phoenix area landmark that has been open since 1969 - 40 years, will be closing too.

Big Surf always closes after Labor Day annually but the company that owns it says that they are not renewing their lease so its future is unclear.

At least we have some notice on this one, they will be open this holiday weekend so if you were like me and grew up here, you will want to go one last time.

Now to keep Jeffrey happy - guys ... this weekend would be the last chance you have to enjoy the girls in bikinis on sand in the Arizona desert.  

Wow, I knew about Big Surf even when living in Ohio!!  Mountain Shadows closed five years ago this week and still stands empty, El Charro, Pink Pony, all the places in my neighborhood.  This is really sad.

It looks like the owners themselves are going to take over operating Big Surf and it will reopen next summer!!!!
