Will be coming up to Philly next week, will partake of the local flavor. Who yet , is undecided. To satisfy a different hunger, I still need to decide if I should abandon Pats at least once, and try Genes . I understand thats fighting words to some. Whats your favorite?

Gooey Louie's is also killer. Pat's is ok, as is Geno's, but Jim's is BETTER!

sliced steak.... both - are kinda like the soup nazi...  both are in the same neighborhood and you need to go to the pastry shop across the street!  Excellent hot chocolate!  to die for.

Dont do Pat's or Geno's the best place is Dalessandro's in Roxborough on Henry Ave or Chubby's which is right across the street.

Delasandro's in Manayunk on Henry Ave...  Hands down the best in the city.  Geno's and Pat's are over-rated tourist traps.  Just my opinion.

Billysamp is correct, Delasandro's has the best cheesesteaks. Chink's, in the Northeast, is probably a solid second.

Make that 2 votes for Delasandro's. You can't drive up Henry Ave without the aroma making you stop in. Even with the windows rolled up.

Another vote for Dalessandro's. Sit at the counter, get a birch beer and a bag of Herr's. That's a real Philly experience.

forget those two, they were good ten years ago.   Look for and go to Tony Lukes, get the Roast Pork and Provelone, with or without brocli Rab and you will forget about cheese steaks.
Tony's also has good cheese steaks

try Rustica on 2nd St in Northern Liberties.  It's one of the best I have tried so far!

I'm partial to Steve's Prince of Steaks on Bustleton and St. Vincent, just south of Cottman Ave. in northeast Philly.  Much better than Pat's, Geno's or Jim's in my opinion.

You all have me so confused now! I guess I will just walk out of my hotel and the first one I run into is going to be the one where I have my very first taste of the famous Philly.
