I plan on seeing a touring lady that will be staying downtown next week. I am not familiar with the area all that well as I will be coming in from Maryland. Looks like most of the hotels only have high dollar valet parking. I had a bad experience in Dupont Circle with parking so just want to have my basis covered. Are there garages close to most of the hotels? What about on street parking? Are plenty of spots usually available and close to the hotels. Thanks for any tips

There are plenty of garages in and around Center City so there's no need to use a valet service. It is, however, pretty expensive to park downtown. Depending on the time of your appointment, early bird or evening rates might be available. Parking mid-day will easily run $25+ if she's right in the center of town.

I guess that beats $50 for valet. I will be an am appointment so maybe early bird will be an option. What about on street parking?

Not much on-street parking in Center City near major hotels. Stick to the garages, they're everywhere and they're easy.

There are a ton of surface lots downtown as well. For me typically easier than garages.  Good luck.

Try the BestParking app - available for daily and monthly parking. I have used it successfully. Depending on where you are, you can try street parking, especially if it's a 1 hour appointment....and if you leave yourself enough time and are feeling lucky

glad someone brought this topic up.    I find parking in center city expensive and difficult. I really hate driving in big cities.    I have passed up providers staying in downtown Philly because of this.     I much prefer NYC.   I take a train in from New Jersey and most hotels are a short walk.    Public transportation into Philly is also more challenging compared to NYC.
