Why this story and NOT the pitiful mess that occurred a short time ago - called, by me, the Tracey MacIntosh episode?   The UNIVERSITY OF PENN faculty member who was convicted of rape - was let go on house arrest "Cause he made valuable contributions to society"

What I find Bizzare in this Bizzare case in this Bizzare world:
1) the U of Penn should applogize and hasn't
2) the judge should by removed - and hasn't
3) the sentence should be reversed with something more suitable - like general prison population for 5 years.

That Ashley Burg died is tragic.  It should not have happened - she was 17 - where are her parents?  where is her school?  These are the real stories...  Our society seems to be a bit loose at the joints...  to think that his activity led directly from the study of 11th grad US history to her death is misinformed, as usual.

Most of the providers that I see - actually have advanced degrees... yes, they are, for the most part, more educated than you!  Some speak several languages - and have careers that quite frankly leave me in awe....

Want a story - find out how this gal - wound up - in over her head....  Start with her school... then family.

Saying look at them and not us is a bogus execuse and defense.  If you read her article today it barely scratched the surface.  It was basically saying you could find escorts in the yellow pages and the internet and the cops dont really bother with anyone but streetwalkers and massage places because people complain who live nearby.

Her article was basically a high school paper and she should be fired.  I mean, this whole story is due to the an underage girl being involved with an escort service.  The story didnt mention her posing the question as how agencies insure they do not hire underage girls.

Nice work Natalie!

Overall, I think her article on the Escorts' world is rather accurate from the escort and LE perspective.  Escorts aren't all drug addict and they chose the work because the money is good and time is flexible.  Many started out from strip club and are single mom, but they can be college students, secretary or housewife.  LE focus on streetwalkers because of neighberhood complaint but rarely bother escorts.

There is one statement that is dead wrong though.  "Most escorts are run by men."  IME, most escort agencies are run by women who were former escorts.  This is one biz that women have the upperhand in gaining trust and positive image from clients and providers. Men agents are viewed as pimp and when they got into legal trouble, their punishment is much hasher.

What makes a woman who runs an agency any less of a pimp than a guy? They both make money from others doing the work.

In fact I would think it is worse when a woman who was in the business pimps out other ladies for her own financial gain.

As an Indy with advanced degrees this is truely a hobby in my own right. Not run by anyone other than myself for fun..outside my real life.
Excellent points made by all.
But please think twice about what you, as a man, think are true from the esorting point of view, unless of course you a male in the biz.

Thanks

But what I am saying is that the Aunt and mother in this instance were completely unaware of their neice/daughter's use of drugs....   All of the signs were there.  Plus it sounds as if the young girl had learned to be somewhat deceptive of her use.  Obviously, there is cupability in the business as well, but a 17 yr old... casually going into strip clubs etc....  I should state that while the strip clubs I go to will hire 18 and up, if the lady approaching me for a lap dance appears to be younger than 21, no way...  If I have a question, I will ask to buy them a drink... the club cannot knowingly serve them if  under 21.  Not failsafe, but it does screen some...

My reason for telling the reporter to start with family and school?  She was not born in an escort service - something went wrong BEFORE she came into contact with this....  at too young an age to be able to handle all of it.  what was that?  that is the true story - not the other part which has been rehashed in books, movies, tv shows, scientific studies, Howard Stern for god's sake, "news"paper articles etc since who knows when.

So, I guess we'll just have to differ in our opinion on this one...  But what about the MacIntosh escapade.... why doesn't the paper go after this case of justice warped....  especially since you and I pay for the UPENN - through state and federal taxes.  Where does that money go?!

Yes you are saying that.  I wasnt referring to the parents/aunt, i was referring to the guy at Penn.  I remember reading some stories about that guy when it happened.  So it was covered, but not to your liking.

Frankly, the story with the 17 year old isnt being sensationalized as much as I thought it would or could be.  It hasnt made the national news yet to any degree.

I guess the media was all over at TO's house.

How does your post today differ in content from the post I made in response to the Inky reporters request for info? In my post I stated that another aspect of the bigger story is how many women involved in the pay for play trade are well adjusted, well educated women who hold productive jobs in the community in addition to escorting.
I don't know you but I can assure you that the women I have seen and continue to see know how much respect I hold for them.I restate my point that I would love to see some journalist go beyond the obvious and dig a little deeper.Unfortunately the article today doesn't seem to be more than a throwaway side bar cobbled together with a few e-mails and phone calls.

When hollywood types pretend to know all about foreign policy, environmental issues and animal rights....

When animal rights legislation is typically enacted BEFORE Child Welfare legislation.

Yea, nothing important happens unless it is one of our "entertainers"

Yours is certainly a bizzare world.
