There is a post from a few days ago about OC scammers.

I began in this hobby long before TER and have been on the receiving end of a scam on more than one occasion. Once in a while however, payback does happen. This is my "payback" story. Does anyone else have a similar story???

About 14 years ago I was in Phoenix on business and called an agency, ( this was pre internet ), who sent over a pretty, slender, gal with long curly red hair. Took my money, said I have to give it to my driver, never saw her again, called the agency, cried in my beer ( I had had too many of those ). End of story.

A year later I was in Phoenix again on business and I wanted to call someone so I looked in my "book", which contained all of my hobby names, numbers, notes etc etc.

And lo and behold I see the name ( let's call her "Red" ) and number of the redhead and I remembered the incident.

So, on a whim, I called the agency and asked if they had a redhead. The guy says yes, her name is Red. Bingo! I tell him to send her over.

So just before she was due to arrive I went down to the lobby and sat in a comfy seat with a view of the entrance.

By and by, a redhead walks in. Its her, I said to myself. I did remember her from the year previous, I wasn't THAT drunk.

She goes over to the bank of elevators and goes up to my room.

About 15 minutes later she gets out of the elevator ( not in nearly as good a mood as when she arrived ) and leaves the hotel.

I go up to my room and call the agency and ask when is Red going to get here. They tell me that she was just there and no one answered the door. I then told the guy, " Gee whiz, I must have been in the shower and didn't hear her knocking. I wanted to be nice and clean for her." I apologized profusely, slurring my words as best I could, and told him to send her back. I said I was really sorry and would give her an extra $100 for her trouble. He said OK, he'd call her.

Well he called back and said she would be back in about 20 minutes. I said "GREAT"!.

So, back to the lobby I went.

20 minutes later she walks in, goes up on the elevator again, and comes down a bit later, REALLY mad.

I go back up to my room. And I called the agency to see if I could get her to come back a third time.

The guy hung up on me.
