Yet another newbie seeking wisdom

So I'm looking to break into the hobby, but like others who've come before me, I'm running into some obstacles. I've done some research (mainly perusing many pages of this board), but I still have some questions. I apologize in advance if these have been exhaustively covered and I just didn't dig deep enough.

I'm self-employed, have been for years. I've read here that newbies should join a verification site like P411, but those sites appear to need employment info for verification. How can I get around this hurdle?

I've also read here that newbies should search for providers that are "newbie friendly". The search options here at TER don't seem to include "newbie friendly". How can I identify these providers?

Thanks!

just be honest & say that.  I had to give up some alternate information, all was goodness & light.  Best to do this through email or PM rather than a internet form.  Sometimes a phone call if she picks up.  Sometimes it takes a bit to find the one to be willing to use alternate screening methods.  Sometimes you don't get your #1 choice...  this is not Match . com  It's only temporary.

Perhaps the best way to join P411 is to call them and sign up that way.  They are very helpful and you can express your concerns and ask your questions.  Go to their web site and click 'Access Client Options' and then click 'Contact Us' at the top of the next page.  Their number is diplayed on the next page.  Once you are a member and can view the profiles, the provider's profile will indicate if she is Newbie Firendly.  Many are.  After you see the first girl, ask her to give you an OK and that will open the door to many more.  Good Luck

i too havent gotten verified or met anyone yet but here are some things i have learned from my research
1. get a hobby phone to use for contact
2. look on your regional ad board here as most provide a link to their website where you will find " newbie friendly" disclaimers ( i have a few picked out for when i start)
3. dont even think about the ads on backpage unless you can read reviews here or elsewhere
4. even though you cant read reviews here unless you are vip you can still see who in your area is "well reviewed"
5. participate in your regional board closest to where you are. the folks who post regularly are very helpful sources of information

hope it helps but im in a similar point in the hobby just figuring out how to begin and where

It's very important so that you can read the juicy details of the reviews. I've noticed on P411 many providers indicate newbie friendly.  And remember, all of us were newbs at one time!

Call their 800# and explain your problem.  They'll offer some alternate info you can provide.  Then you can choose from among their "Newbie Friendly" providers and, after you've seen them, ask for their "OK."  The entire world will then be open to you.  Of course, some girls also ask for additional screening info and you'll have to decide if you want to give that up.  But we all face that issue.

Either customers, suppliers, or professional associations. A verification service can use them to get verifying information on you.
