Got your attention, didn't I?   Well, truth be known, I have no clue what admin is doing.  What I do know is, they have asked me to be the host of the Newbie board, down side is I have no clue as to what they expect me to do.

So, I will continue to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge, and hope that my highly paid assistants will continue to do as well.  I no longer have the power to approve or disapprove posts, which is sort of a blessing, so all I will do is reply to posts.  

Keep on asking your questions people!!!!  I will try to answer all that I can.  Sometimes my highly paid assistants may beat me to the answer, so pay heed to their responses.

You do a great job hosting here. I think it's probably a relief that you just get to do the "fun stuff" now and let staff worry about the drudgery part.  I think so far the changes are very good and I think I already see more positive participation on the boards that were once full of venom and just a bunch of idiocy!  

I think your filling your role of "Host" quite perfectly and I will continue to do my part to pitch in and help with advice when I"m around.

Personally I think it is awesome of you to stick around and "host" especialy after the way they treated you guys. I will delay my judgement on all the changes for a while. I think some may be postive and some may be negative. I guess we will see eventually. In any case, I didn't like the way they went about it, and I really didn't like the way they treated the moderators. To pull the plug on you guys with no notice, then to moderate the moderators, and now I understand, at least  some have lost posting rights to The "Reviewers only" board. Personally I think that is a bunch of crap!

You are a big man to take that and then come right back and keep helping. As one of your "highly paid assistants" I will still help out with answers when I can too. But I want a raise. LOL. J/K
I guess we are all here to share our knowledge with each other and help the newbies (In the process I still learn new stuff all the time) We're not here for the TER owners.

I suppose the only difference is that you can't moderate people or pull posts, but in truth, how often did that ever become an issue here?

Truth be known, I never placed anyone under moderation in the short time I was a moderator.  Rarely did I have to pull or disapprove posts on this board.  The people that posted here fell into 2 categories basically.  One, those needing guidance and help, and two, those willing to help them.  In both cases, the vast majority of their posts were well within the posting rules.  So thanks to all for making my job easier.

Other than answering questions and approving posts, I really didn't do a whole lot on the newbie board, although I did move a few posts.  Most of my 'hard' work was on the Ohio board.  It is one of the new ones established last year, and it took a while to get some of them used to the posting rules, especially for provider ads.  But it had pretty much settled in lately.

An update, I'm still waiting to hear from admin as to what is expected of me as a host, and whether or not it's a permanent set up for me, or will I be rotated.  Personally, I think the host/hostess of this board should not be rotated in and out as they indicate will happen on other boards.  I think a permanent host/hostess can be of greater benefit to the ones asking for help.

I doubt even Admin has a detailed job description for this new hosting job. Probably just an objective - to make the boards more welcoming to all. So you are doing a great job, and also developing the model that they will use going forward.
