I once took over for an agency owner going on vacation and people use to ask all the time for a refrence and it wasn't a problem. Why would anyone be upset about that? I know it happens but it never made sense to me. My advice is to see a provider have her whitelist you and you won't even have to go through all this.
Hi -- just started out. I am "in" at one Asian agency. There is another one right nearby that I would like to get verified at, too. (so, they are in direct competition.) Is the first one going to be pissed off if I use it as a reference, for my application to the second one?
I suspect that the agency you are 'in' with would not be to eager to verify you with another one. Just my opinion, but you can try and see. I would caution you to be prepared to be banned from the one you are already in good stead with.
I agree there is a chance the one agency might not be "eager" to verify him to another agency and I even agree they might flat out refuse to do so, but to say they might stop taking his money out of petty jealousy is ridiculous.
Actually in most towns the agency owners all know each other, especially the Asian agencies, and in many cases they are good friends. Not all agencies act as pimps, jealously guarding their turf.
My advice to the OP is to simply ask the agency if they would serve as a reference, the worst they can say is no and unless they are retarded or drink as much as Swim (or me, I suppose. lol) they are NOT going to ban you

That's for sure.
In NYC, there is constant movement between the AMPs. Not just the girls but the phone girls and others, too. And the owners do seem to be in friendly(?) competition. If you are in with one place, but not yet at another, wait a couple of weeks. If your phone number is "good" at the first place, it will slowly work its way around and start showing up on the "OK" list at other places (in NYC). I don't think it can hurt to say that you met with Miss-A at Place-A when calling Place-B. Place-B might not let you in right away but the Place-B phone girl might contact the Place-A phone girl to check you out
Fair or not, when your name is in red it's not just your opinion you are posting, you are posting on behalf of TER. The rest of us can give all the stupid advice we want, you don't have that luxury. If you want to simply "wing it" on subject you are clueless about, you should make those posts under an alias as not to be giving bad advice under the "color of authority"

Why would the agency you are "in" with want to piss YOU off? Unless the agency owner is bat shit crazy (which is the case with a few) they don't want to lose you as a client by being unprofessional. If there is bad blood between the two agencies, the worst that would happen is your present agency wouldn't give a reference to the other. But that seldom happens as they usually share info on bad clients, LE ect.
