In addition to reading the self help center as Swim suggested, I would recommend that you do a search on this board for posts by BadCollegeGirl.  She was new a few months ago and she asked some really great questions, and got lots of feedback.  Some of those questions and answers may be helpful to you as well.  You might also want to let everyone know where you are located.  Best of luck!
