A provider that I want to see is asking for work information (switchboard phone number) to verify me before we meet. My work doesn't have a switchboard, and I don't feel like giving out my work information for privacy reasons. How do people handle this???
Each provider has their own prescreening requirements which we have developed for our own safety and protection. We are generally inflexible when it comes to prescreening. I am no exception. As I tell my potential clients, do not want them to do anything that makes them feel uncomfortable. Likewise, I would hope that they do not ask me to do anything that I am uncomfortable about.. such as seeing them without thorough prescreening.
I understand your concern and, as other have said there are alternatives. It's important to remember that you are not the only one who is risking something here.
Providers are risking potential arrest, and threats to their health and safety. Providers have no idea who their clients really are so they must implement some degree of security. You're worried about risk? Fair enough, but remember, she's got to worry that you might be either Officer Shakedown, Typhoid Larry or Ted Bundy.
It's a commen request but if giving out that info makes you feel uncomfortable then don't do it. I would also suggest if you do give out work details then only do so to well reviewed and established providers.
