You can use a pay phone from a gas station/store. Most providers that want to be called a few minutes before the session should give you a location you can drive to and then call from. I have done that when I didn't have a cell phone and recently when my cell phone went down.
This may be my imagination. But I had set up an appointment with a provider. I told her it was my first time with a provider and was new to this. She was going to give me directions to her incall location and asked if I had a cell phone. I told her I don't and told her I would call her from my house. She said fine. I called and got her answering machine. Is not having a cell phone a factor in not seeing someone?
The only thing that the cellphone does is allow is mobile contact, you to contact her while in transit and her to contact you while you are moving. I think that reliance on cellphones before a strong verification is done is a bad idea, I am surprised that she gave you information and only asked for a cellphone number.
Did you have your number blocked? Did you give her your real name? Is your home phone listed under something other than the name you gave her?
Perhaps she was busy at the time freshening up for you and didn't pick up the phone. Or, she was still with a previous appointment and did not want to interrupt it.
