A couple of gals I know even take credit cards - they have legit on-line businesses to avoid nasty looking things on your cc bill.
But for a first time meeting, you just have to find a way to trasnport a lot of cash. I pack it into several different envelopeds so that if one is stolen, at least I haven't lost it all.
I've done a few overnights and traveling out of townand the donations are climbing into the thousands. I don't have an issue with the amounts, but I am concerned about carrying $5k-$10k with me when I travel. If the provider doesn't take plastic (not that that is all that safe), is there a safer way to pay. Green dot card fees are high and max out at $500, so that's not a real efficient method. Any thoughts/experience to share?

If it's OK with the lady involved you can pay her in travelers checks. These can be purchased in larger denominations and are actually free from AAA if you are a member.
