Most lead to the website of the CDC, though I don't think anyone has ever done research on the incidence of STDs of hobbyists, though I could be wrong.
Here's one stat for you:
I have hobbied for about 35 years and never got a single STD despite having a lot of bare back blow jobs and kissing, etc.
On the other hand, I dated about six civies many years ago and got a case of clap, one of NSU and a case of the crabs.
I hope this isn't a 'flame' topic, as any mention in the main discussion on the topic seems to be....
I'm somewhat new to the hobby, so I'm trying to figure out the STD angle and how concerned I should be about it. I have looked at many medical sites that discuss STD risks, etc, and then I read all the reviews talking about BBBJs and CIM, etc (but not including BBFS--that much is pretty clear), and it's starting to seem like the 'official' advice on risk isn't really reflected in the real-life encounters. Seems like providers really know the score--since they are with a lot of men and their livelihood (not to mention their health) is dependent on a realistic appraisal of risks. And they continue with some of the 'risky' behavior that is discussed in the medical sites. What is the real incidence of STD transmission in this hobby (is this a taboo topic?)? When I see that some guys have hundreds of reviews, I assume that they haven't had a problem. That says alot to me about the risk involved.
Great question. I'd like to know how many folks have contracted an STD in the hobby and had it successfully treated vs. those who've never had one because, as you pointed out, there are a lot of folks who have been doing this for many years with many different partners. Of course using a alias to answer this one is a given.

Got to agree with you. I have not been at this as long as you, but the only problem I ever encountered was crabs from a woman I picked up in a airport while I was traveling. Never ever anything from a working lady. But then I do see ladies who are known to be careful and fun. By the way I have been at this since 1992 so 18 years.
i am less worried about the treatable std's. often times those will come with symptoms and can be easily treated with antibiotics. my biggest fear is with viral transmission. Yes, for BBBj, transmission of HIV/HCV is very very low, does remain a possibility however. The other problem is that you won't even know till even 6 months down the road which can provide for torment. Best advise is to cover up. If not, then obviously stick with providers who are clean and only provide safe fun. obviously, the biggest decision for me has been to BBBJ or not to BBBJ, i still struggle with that decision some times.
a chance to catch something.....just protect yourself and be careful no matter who you r playing with. Oh, if you pee and it hurts 3 days after, run, dont walk to the doc for meds))
how *likely* the incidence of infection / transmission is.
On the one hand, most STD infections are trivial as diseases go and easily cured with appropriate antibiotics.
However, the fact that infection with STDs is *possible* should be taken seriously. You do not want to become an agent of transmission, spreading STDs to other providers or to women in your personal life.
If you are going to play this game - *get tested regularly*. Only you can take responsibility for your health, and for not becoming a part of the STD problem.
This post caught my interest b/c I'm new to the hobby, and am a squeaky clean very discreet professional with a girlfriend of 3 years. Only been with 2 providers, and thank God have not contracted any std's.
However, I'm curious about what you all think of herpes. Of course I'm all about covering up, but even when you do, you always run the risk of your surrounding non-covered areas (i.e balls, surrounding pubic area, thighs) comming into contact with the providers "danger zones". Yes, your penis might be safe, but I guess there's always the possiblity of contracting an STD on these uncovered parts. Does anyone have any insight/comments to offer on this???
