Through a series of miscommunications, I had an out call no-show at the motel I was staying at—Now I’m not going to fault the provider who was very sweet on the initial contact and also has great reviews on TER; stuff happens, and it may be partially my fault—yet it got me to thinking about keeping more than one choice in mind; that is, having plan B or C in place in case the first choice doesn't work out.

Also, limiting the time in communication, like say the planned rendezvous is at 9:00 PM with a confirmation and specifics at 8:00 PM, but you haven’t heard from the provider and it’s 9:30 PM. Then, call and cancel; move onto another choice? (It’s only 30 minutes, but time is valuable.)

I would like some opinions and ideas here, and personal stories are always welcomed.  

The other question: Is it better to go with an agency then an independent in a case when time is limited

There are gals and guys who do that and it is an unseemly practice.

Now, if the date evaporates for whatever reason, then yes, an agency is a better choice as they have a pool of gals who usually can go out on short notice and are easier to contact and also often require less screening.

yea, it's a royal bummer and gets you a bit pissed off, but then like you said... stuff does happen. if the provider has returned any form of communication explaining the situation, that's all fine and dandy.  However, if she has not, there's not much you can do anyways.  

In either case, move on.  

Unless there is something that it's your fault, I would not worry about it. You did mention miscommunications... not sure exactly what that entailed in your situation, but unless it's clear that you were at fault, no need to justify it. Just go with the next lady and have fun!

regarding the timing the session time, if it's past a certain time that you have set for yourself, then consider it a no show and move on. You will get all kinds of opinions on how long you should wait for someone to get back to you if the session time has already passed by.  

for some folks, it's 15 minutes past the session time that it's considered a no show... for a few, it's 30 minutes... for others, it's 60 minutes. Only, you can decide that for yourself. there are no set rules for that.  
 

On the contrary, I’m not suggesting lining up two girls at once ahead of time at all, although I appreciate you pointing it out. Forgive me for not being clear in my comment, as I do and will follow through with the first choice in its entirety, and if it doesn’t work out, then contact another one on short notice.

Now, it does appear that an agency makes sense, and being new I haven’t contacted one yet; maybe that’s the best way to go on short notice. I’ll have to look into it. Any suggestions on reliable agencies in the New England area?

Also, what are your thoughts on setting a time limit to a provider’s late response, say you don’t hear from her a half hour after agreed upon appointment, and you haven’t given her specifics on location, room number etc. Would it be fair to say to her upfront in initial contact that in case anything happens I do need to hear from you by such and such a time or consider our appointment canceled (Perhaps give a reason but not to suggest canceling if she contacts you and tells you she’s running late). Would that be unseemly or rude, or is there a different way to go about it

My situation is unique that I honestly can’t fault the provider, although better communication from the get-go could have helped. I take responsibility for my own miscommunication as there was communication from her through email to which I didn’t think on checking it on my cell phone until too late, but even then the message was not completely clear. This is an isolated incident, and my thinking is now hypothetical to it happening again when there is no communication regarding the confirmation and specifics. (I have read about others’ on the discussion board that have had no-shows happen to them.) I do want to prepare myself, and yes, now I understand I should expect a no-show.

To put it in an initial contact email would make me pause. And I suspect other ladies as well. If a lady isn't there at the agreed upon time AND you have contacted her about it and got no response, then by all means put a time limit on how long you'll wait before cancelling the date.

We've all experienced the no-show and it is irritating/disappointing/frustrating...

One thing that I would not suggest is to move to lady #2 on the spot. Myself, I would not be great company since my mood & expectations have been compromised.

In these (few, fortunately) cases, I have switched to other activities: gone to the gym (pound the machines!), watched a movie... Then made plans for another day

And if she shows up in the meantime (however late, with apologies and primed to please you), you can always do the time-shift and achieve the initial objective!

Do you do this as part of your initial contact?

Sounds like an opportunity for great make up sex!!!

I concur with your last paragraph, and if she is the one who is late, you do not need to give any excuse at all except tell her that given her lack of response, you have made other plans.

I will keep it simple; that is, I will not bring up how late I will wait to consider it a no-show in the initial contact as I now see it as negative and counter productive to getting off to a good start with another, and if it happens to come to a no-show, I will privately use my judgment on how late I’ll wait past agreed meeting time if I don’t hear from her between ½  to 1 hour, for example. I’ll make sure I have touched base with all forms of initial communication. If no-show, I definitely will have a plan B, C or D in place to either contact another independent or contact an agency if really short on time or just have a different activity to fall back on. I’ll try to schedule earlier in the day, if possible to allow more time for alternative choices. Going forward “no shows’ now are part of the territory that must be taken into account. I’ll remain flexible contingent to the response I get from a no-show in the aftermath. The above is sort of a compilation from the responses in my post, yet they do make sense, least I take myself too seriously.  I can work with it. Thanks again everyone
