switch it around

I think it's no big deal as long as you aren't acting suspicious (i.e. looking nervous), and you aren't there using cash too often so they know who you are. I know near me, most hotels tend to be grouped up in the same area, which makes it pretty convenient to switch. If you can, try switching between them every so often if you're there regularly.

The provider I see only does out calls. I have been using a mid level national  hotel chain. I did not want credit card bills coming to my mailbox with that charge on it so last time I paid cash. They accepted  it without any question but if I continue to use this place and pay cash will I be raising any red flags?

then don't do it anymore.  How are you going to have fun with that on your mind?

Instead use a VISA gift card or similar device.

One ave. hotels spend about 2-3% of cc charges towards processing costs. Paying with cash will only add to their bottom line

If its once every 3-4months, I wouldn't sweat it. But if its every 1-2 weeks you have developed a pattern. I don't like to develop patterns in this game. Can you mix up your hotels? That's what I do. You don't want the front desk start to recognize you. Then they recognize you as the "cash guy". Who needs that? How much does it really raise the risk? Who knows? But why raise the risk at all, and like Mr Fish said, why play mind games with yourself in the process?

Unless it is a place most ladies wouldn't set foot in.  They passed a law several years back that you have to be a certain age to purchase a hotel room and you HAVE to show ID when you check in.  In addition, L E is going around training hotel employees how to look for human trafficking, pimping, et cetera and one of the top things they tell them to look for is people paying in cash.  So paying in cash, looks suspicious.  Look for it online....

I've had hotel desk clerks just do a complete change in demeanor when I asked to pay in cash.  They went stone cold, and told me I would have to pay cash for the room and leave a $250 cash deposit at the front desk that I could pick up when I checked out.  Then he looked at me like I was a criminal.

Get a green dot just to use for hobbying if necessary and keep it concealed.  All statments are online

I tell the front desk I would like to pay cash and hand them my credit card and ID. They take down the credit info and ID info then they get the payment in cash. As long as you don't cause any damage their should not ever be a charge.

For Hobbyists it doesn't look suspicious that way. Any hotel wants your ID and usually a way to pay for damage. Also some people in general don't like to charge anything. I pay for everything that is not an online purchase or bill payment in cash.

If you pay cash and give them a card for possible damage. Make sure to give them a credit card not a debit card. If by chance they want to make sure the card is active they might run an approval just to test it, meaning they might charge a dollar right when you pay cash just to see if the card is valid. If they do that and it's a credit card the approval will not show up online or in a paper statement. Only if they actually charge an amount.

If you use a debit card then the $1. authorization might show on your online account almost instantaneously even though the card has not been charged. Bank debit cards are different from credit cards.

I've never had a charge on any credit card show up when I've paid cash for a room.

...ID anyway; you can't stay anonymous.  The hotel holds the credit card for incidentals and to make sure I don't run out on the bill, but I pay cash for the room and anything else and the card is not charged.  It has never been a problem for me.

I use the hotel every couple of months and i reserve it through my cc then paid cash at checkout last time. Greendot cards ask for a mail address and told me I could get letters in the mail for policy changes. I may use a different hotel from time to time from now on.

I've never been to a hotel that did not swipe my card for at least 50-100 bucks, so not sure where you are staying. What you should be doing is giving a fake address, not worrying about the card unless you and wifey share that account. Many people carry 2 forms of ID...one with the real address, and another with a fake addy. Or, switch to paperless billing for you credit card.

the higher the amount they hold. Like a Marriott in Anaheim, it has a gift shop, Restaurants, room service, they charged for parking and internet, they had movies, etc...

So they hold $50 per day x how many says your staying!
If you dont give them that, most hotels will require a cash DEPOSIT to be given .

Even if you do give a cash deposit, they still want your credit card in case you destroy the room. 100 bucks is not going to cover even a lamp.

which was, like over 10 yrs ago lol

I needed a incall and my CC from the bank had not arrived yet...

I had to give them $500!!!!!

ug

If they give you a second glance just say it is your policy not to use credit cards whenever possible.  I know several people (in real life) that pay cash for everything.

Another thought, if you are seeing the same provider, who really knows if she is a provider or just your girlfriend?  Lots of people check into hotels regularly for "legit" hook-ups.  When checking in, just treat it like you are meeting your girlfriend.  She is your girlfriend.  ;)
