I've had $$ dates that put smile on my face and gave memories to last. On the other hand I can't say I was ever disappointed by $K dates ... because I never paid that much for a date. But I don't feel like I am missing anything, because I've been with girls (when travelling overseas), who look on par or better than those charging $K here, I was able to afford them because of currency valuations. But I would not rate the experience worth paying $Ks. What makes for a great experience is chemistry; when both of you and your moods click. Shelling $Ks for a centerfold with fake boobs and oversized sense of self-worth is not worth it IMHO. But looking for bargains is even bigger mistake. You have to find sweet spot. Stick to providers, who are really in your taste and it would be worth every penny regardless of their "$ status".

Porn star pricing is less about performance, and more about fulfilling the fantasy. It doesn't sound to me like that's what you're after.
I've done doubles ranging from $700 for 1hr to $1400 for 2hrs. They were all incredible! I highly recommend doubles if you're looking for "sheer heaven". I don't do the 2hr doubles anymore though.
For more basic dates, I generally spend $400 to $500. These have all been pretty darn fun, too, to varying degrees.

If you do your research, for this amount, you can have an almost guaranteed great time with a stunning woman (depending on your region). You might also want to consider 1.5 or 2hrs if you like to take your time and get to know the lady. Not everyone does.
So, to sum up, there are diamonds and coal at just about every level. Do your research to find what you're looking for.
