In general any STD advice you can get on a hobbyist forum / board will be of questionable value. Seek advice / facts from medical professionals.
In general though common sense dictates that the hobby is inherently risky. You have to weigh the risks against the benefits, figure out the cogent considerations and make your own decisions. Some useful resources in making good decisions include:
50% of us can not even try to answer this question because according to one TER Poll 50% of us have never been tested. I have had 3 STDs in my life. Two in 1970’s when most STDs were easily curable with a shot in the butt. However, it is impossible for me to determine the source because I was very actively playing unprotected with both Civvies and Providers at that time. The last incidence, 5 years ago, was a urinary tract infections (UTI) which I attribute to a BBBJ I received about a week before from a provider. I had a nasty reaction to the sulfur drugs used to treat me and it convinced me that the added pleasure of a BBBJ was not worth the risk of getting another UTI tratment. Motobojo is right on when he states “the hobby is inherently risky” I am probably just one of many who suspect he may have gotten an STD from a provider. I also have a divergent view from mrfisher’s implication that Providers are less of a risk than Civvies. For this I refer you to mrfisher and my comments in a TER “General Discussion” thread date 8/3/2006 which essentially addresses the same question you have asked here.
“the hobby is inherently risky” That is safe to assume one would think....but I am curious as to why there are no reviews saying I was with this girl and ended up getting this and that.
All boards I am aware of will correctly not post a review that accuses a lady of transmitting an STD and thus negatively affected a ladies business. One good reason is you can never be 100% certain of the source of the STDs. For example in my case, although rare in men, UTI can occur in absence of receiving a BBBJ. Many STDs are also asymptomatic and may results from an infection that occur months or years ago and not from the last lady you have seen. Another reason is the recognition that such an accusation can be misuse by a disgruntle client to destroy an innocent lady. Also their recognition that we alone are ultimately responsible for our own action. We all know the “the hobby is inherently risky” and if that risk is realized especially if it was through an unsafe practice, it is not the ladies fault even if she is the source of the infection. Participation in this hobby is incompatible with STD risk avoidance but you can practice STD risk management. For me, I assume every lady is a potential threat and take the proper precaution that is compatible with the risk I am willing to accept.
